"Retro-Porting" / [!RETIRED! RELEASE CL] CL Mod Merge
« on: March 26, 2017, 05:29:37 am »
PROJECT RETIRED - This project is no longer needed, my WoD Character Models mod now has compatibility options for all these merged mods.

-------------
Description;
-------------
This is a merge of several mods for WoW client 1.12.1 (Classic). The intention is to allow people to use these mods without DBC conflicts. Included mods are:
-MODIFIED VERSION OF* Uthil's Imroved Models for 1.12 (http://www.modcraft.io/index.php?topic=10847.0)
-MODIFIED VERSION OF** Balsh's WOD character models for 1.12 (http://www.modcraft.io/index.php?topic=10799.0)
-Leeviathan's TBC Blood/High Elf NPCs (http://www.modcraft.io/index.php?topic=11233.0)
-Leeviathan's Cohesive Druid Forms (http://www.modcraft.io/index.php?topic=9822.0)
-Leeviathan's WoW Rescore (http://www.modcraft.io/index.php?topic=10345)

*This is a very pared down version of Uthil's mod. I removed or modified some objects and many creatures that I felt were either too fancy, too different from vanilla, or just had some minor bug (e.g. off scale, holding inappropriate weapon, lack of attack animation, etc.)
**I have pretty much completely reworked every character model in order to fix hair textures, tabards, channeling animations, and issues with transparency (i.e. ghost form). Undead models now have their bones, but I have an optional patch if you liked my boneless version. The weapon sheathing emote still doesn't work for some models.

"Retro-Porting" / [QUESTION][CL] Mount sizes for different races
« on: March 25, 2017, 05:20:06 pm »
What determines mount scale for different races? And is there a way to change it client-side?

I'm trying to change the scale of mounts for gnomes since anything other than a mechanostrider appears vastly too big. A common example of this is when a gnome warlock rides their warlock mount; the mount is about 1.3 times larger compared to a human riding the same mount. It looks absurd especially given that gnomes are the smallest race.

"Retro-Porting" / [!RETIRED! RELEASE CL] TBC Blood/High Elf NPCs
« on: March 20, 2017, 06:03:10 pm »
PROJECT RETIRED - This project is now incorporated into my WoD Character Models mod and includes updated high-poly Blood Elf models.

This mod replaces most High Elf and Blood Elf models in the game with those from TBC. I made sure all NPC armor sets, sounds, and textures were as close to TBC as possible i.e. Blood Elves have green eyes and speak with the Blood Elf sound files, High Elves have blue eyes and speak with Night Elf sound files.

This mod makes lots of DBC edits, so if you're interested in merging this mod with your own I've provided a text file that lists all DBC modifications.

"Retro-Porting" / [QUESTION][1.12.1] 512x512 textures for characters
« on: October 07, 2016, 11:28:56 pm »
Hello, does anyone know why character models cannot use larger texture sizes? Other NPC's can use 512x512 textures in place of 256x256 textures interchangeably without crashing the game (such as my druid form patch, which is all 512 textures rather than the usual 256 ones).

I get the feeling character models are textured differently from everything else, for example I can't figure out why my undead character model is using face textures for its fingernails, is it possible to change that?

"Retro-Porting" / [RELEASE] [CL, TBC] Old World Music Rescore
« on: April 07, 2016, 11:02:16 pm »
-------------
Description:
-------------
This patch introduces many new musical tracks that came in later expansions. Generally I used the Cataclysm expansion as a guide for rescoring the old zones, but of course many of the old zones are much different in their Cataclysm incarnation, so my patch doesn't follow Cataclysm exactly. In addition to general new zone music, lots of sub-zone areas and interiors (i.e. caves) have been diversified musically. Oh and most inns have their race-specific inn music too.

Just a couple examples:

Stranglethorn Vale:

Ungoro Crater (not exactly the same):

Tauren Inns:

Some Highborn ruin subzones:

etc etc etc

Level Design / [Classic] [QUESTION] Music for Inns
« on: February 14, 2016, 02:24:26 pm »
I'm trying to find where music is set for inns.

In ZoneMusic.DBC there are entries for TavernAlliance and TavernHorde, however there are no/few entries in AreaTable.DBC referencing those particular ZoneMusic IDs (there are a couple TavernHorde references, but no TavernAlliance).

So where else could the zone music for inns be set?

A little underwhelming. SeaLion2.M2 is missing a bunch of essential animations, just as the original SeaLion.M2. I tweaked the colors to fit with my Cohesive Druid patch for 1.12.1

Does scaling a model in Blender scale it in game? Or rather, should it scale models in game?

I ask because I made a modification to a model in blender (that whole m2->m2i->m2 business) and it came out fine except that I had scaled it down about ~%50 in Blender and its size remained unchanged in game. In theory, should it have scaled down? If so I'm thinking it might have something to do with all the m2 conversions that are required to get the model working in Vanilla. I just can't seem to get a model to scale correctly.

Miscellaneous / [Question] Scaling models
« on: November 07, 2015, 02:09:10 am »
[Tearing my hair out] I've tried resizing models from classic/tbc/wotlk with every tool I can get my hands on with the same bad results. (FYI I've tried: Glitchy's 2.6, 2.7, M2Modder2)

Every tool seems to incorrectly scale animations; running always looks all stretchy and models tend to sink into the ground. The warping effect is more extreme the more I'm trying to scale the model. BTW I'm scaling these models down.

Is there any other way to scale models, like in a dbc file? I've tried the scale column in CreatureDisplayInfo but it doesn't seem to do anything.

EDIT: also the size of the model's shadow doesn't seem to change

EDIT 2: I learned blender and spent all weekend going through every tool in every configuration used from 2007-present for converting the m2i format to m2. I need to make a virtual machine image of this setup, what a house of cards...

Still can't resize anything, scaling a model in Blender doesn't do a thing

Here's a screenshot that captures how I feel right now:[attachment=0:3ogi354b]WoWScrnShot_110815_021822.png[/attachment:3ogi354b](he's all better now. same cannot be said about me)

Miscellaneous / [QUESTION:1.12.1] Possible to selectively model-swap mobs
« on: November 04, 2015, 08:10:45 pm »
I'm working on a Druid Form patch for Classic servers. I would like to figure out a way to avoid replacing all 'Tiger' type mobs in the game with bird models, which happens due to the Travel Form model swap (Tiger.M2 -> StormCrowDruid.M2).

Before I go on a manic sleepless frenzy, I was wondering if anyone knew if it would even be possible--in theory--to model-swap mobs individually using the CreatureCache.wdb file in tandem with CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc/CreatureModelData.dbc.

Basically I'm trying to use the same technique that people use to swap gear, but with mobs.

"Retro-Porting" / [RELEASE CL, BC, WotLK] Cohesive Druid Forms
« on: October 25, 2015, 06:17:02 pm »
DESCRIPTION:
This patch replaces the original WoW Druid Forms with more visually cohesive ones. This is not strictly a downport from later expansions, I've modified many of the models and textures.

Some changes include: making the Night Elf forms all have glowing eyes and removing any eye-glow from Tauren forms, removing collar bits from NE cat/bear forms, recoloring most of the NE cat/bear variations (WotLK only), increasing the resolution of the BfA Bear Form eyes, fixing the Bear's cleft pallet (BfA NE Bear), fixing poorly weighted vertices in many models (esp. Moonkin), adding overhauled Aquatic and Travel Forms for Tauren, Custom Tree of Life Forms, and lots more...

INSTALLATION:
See info.txt included with each download.

Download for 1.12.1
Note: Incompatible with retail WoW Classic

Download for 2.4.3

Download for 3.3.5a - I've modified a lot of the Night Elf druid color variations, which you can see here

"Retro-Porting" / [Question] 1.12.1 model resize and adding animations
« on: October 18, 2015, 07:38:58 pm »
Hello all, I'm trying to replace the druid travel form (Tiger) with the StormCrowDruid model.

I've been running into problems, 3 problems.

1.) [Solved] Running is using the standing animation. Fixed by changing the m2 file's "numberOfTimestampPairs" value from 00 to 8F (0 to 143) within 010 Editor. I don't know why that worked, I was just comparing my m2 to Spik96's Carrion m2 from his Improved Models patch: viewtopic.php?f=93&t=8849

2.) [Unsolved] The model looks much too big in-game. This is partly due to a bug on Kronos that enlarges the travel form, but I'd like to reduce the size regardless. I've tried editing CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc so that the "scale" field for all the tigers is reduced. Nothing I enter seems to affect anything. I've also tried modifying the m2 file using this -- viewtopic.php?f=59&t=849&p=5143 -- I'm not sure how to use the exe and my best guess just crashes the executable (open cmd.exe, drag in exe, space, drag in m2 file, space, 0.5, enter, crash). Links to the python script on that page are broken.

3.) [Unsolved] Many Tiger.m2 NPCs in-game sleep a lot, and the StormCrowDruid model is missing an animation for that. How would I go about making it so the StormCrowDruid model uses the "sit" animation for all those sleepy lions out in the world?
