PROJECT RETIRED - This project is now incorporated into my WoD Character Models mod and includes updated high-poly Blood Elf models.

This mod replaces most High Elf and Blood Elf models in the game with those from TBC. I made sure all NPC armor sets, sounds, and textures were as close to TBC as possible i.e. Blood Elves have green eyes and speak with the Blood Elf sound files, High Elves have blue eyes and speak with Night Elf sound files.

This mod makes lots of DBC edits, so if you're interested in merging this mod with your own I've provided a text file that lists all DBC modifications.

Jeez nice shot man. Was looking for time now to make that happen but im so hands full from work that couldn't spare time. Great work mate. Ill have a look on it and i would love to include it with mine, all kudos for your work mate.

By the way, is there a tool for editing .dbc that won't make me hate my life? Something that allows entire cells to be copied at once? Or even better, a tool that can merge databases?

Also, if you could explain, how does the game load these? If a patch contains a particular dbc file, does the file completely replace the original, or is it line by line only? (In other words, will this work if you make a dbc file that contains only your changes, or it must replace absolutely every line?) Since you guys keep adding small fixes to these patches, it would be absolutely horrible to have to merge the dbc's manually each time.

P.S. Ok, I just found out about DBCUtil. It should be able to convert back and forth between dbc and text format. So it won't be too bad at all. (But it's hard to keep track of what's what :))

P.S. You have also included SoundEntries.dbc.csv. Was this by mistake?

SoundEntries.dbc is not there by mistake, it is necessary for adding all the new blood elf voices. If there's a .csv in there then yes that was a mistake :)

The file completely replaces the original, unfortunately. I wish it was the other way. EDIT: HOWEVER, I just did a test to see if it was possible to overwrite a DBC entry within the same DBC file and it seems to work just fine; in my test I added a second instance of entry ID 55 (NE Male player) to the end of CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc and changed its model to human male and the game used that second instance. So theoretically you can just append all modified DBC entries to the end of the same DBC file and it'll work.

I haven't found a DBC editing tool that doesn't make me hate my life. If I'm doing more than 1 line of edits I typically convert the dbc to txt and use Notepad++ or WinMerge to make my edits. Even with WinMerge it can be difficult without a list of all the necessary DBC changes (which is why I like to provide a list of DBC modifications/additions with my mods).

Ok, so at least I can keep appending the changes, nice. What I meant with SoundEntries is that both SoundEntries.dbc AND SoundEntries.dbc.csv are included and I assume the game doesn't care about the .csv one. (unless I did this by mistake.. but somehow I don't remember it :)) Thanks alot for providing the list! I wish every release had one like that.

oh, yes, I must have forgotten to delete the csv file. The game doesn't do anything with it and it can be deleted.

Found one missing texture, NPC Haleh, she didn't had the textures. I found them here is the missing one to add it in your patch.

Hmmm got another one. Instructor Malicia, has wrong ID for helmet in displayinfoextra and it displays the cube. Seems the id doesn't exist in vanilla. Im investigating atm but haven't spot which one it is.

**UPDATE : Found the which helmetID is, tho haven't made a match on the displayInfoExtra.dbc yet. Unless im looking wrong here.

Thanks again! It seems there are BElf-specific helm models. I'm guessing adding them should fix it. EDIT: adding them removed the box but now there's just no helm at all. Better than a box anyway... EDIT 2: Duh I forgot to convert them from BC->CL. Fix is uploaded.

Found a small issue in both male & female Tauren Creation screen. When i disable ChrRaces.dbc works fines tho then blood elf models as expected is not working correct. Tried to understand why is that happening but haven't figure out yet.

I've had that issue before too, but then it just went away and I haven't been able to reproduce it since. EDIT: and it just came back. So mysterious...it seems to have something to do with the last column (value: 116). Changing it to 10 turns the selections to "hair style" and "hair color" like all the other races.

EDIT 2: It was the DBC editor's fault, it changed the last column into a "flag" type column when it was supposed to be "string". Jeesh! Uploading the fix now.
