Modelling and Animation / Re: WoW Model Commission

Regardless of his personal grudge against Alastor or not, that price is easily justifiable, heck.. I'd probably charge even more.

As Ascathos stated, he obviously has no idea the amount the work and time involved in making this happen, and that's leaving experience and knowledge that the person doing is requires, aside.

Take the values from vertex float boxes (max, min and radius.. 7 in total), and then go to the stand animation, and copy them into that animation's bounding boxes. That should do the trick.

It's a common bug that you get used to fixing with Obj2M2.exe. Garthog never got around to adding the fix.

For example - Fixing a dagger that has the same problem;

You take these, and put them here:

Actually had to redo the map due to some perspective issues I had with the minimap I used as reference. You shouldn't notice much difference though other than the fact that the left side of the map is smaller:

My hat is off, amazing work.

Or you could always edit the model:

Tip: Disable the particles before parsing back to m2, or it will fail because of the new verts. Then particleclone them back on.

Hey guys

I don't remember doing a showoff of the loginscreen I made for the launch of our realm updated to MoP from WoTLK, I decided to take a little video and post it here.

[media:2k1uyf8j]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luCi_CHmdKo&feature=youtu.be[/media:2k1uyf8j]

The first time I did it, the loginscreen had 70+ plus models, and this was giving some bugs/wow errors on the model list updating. After Mordred's help by editing his original code, I also took the further step of reducing the loginscreen to 10 models.

I decided to made a giant model (like blizzard does). Here are a couple of pictures.

I also had to do some annoying things like add in a 3d tree bunch, to cover the trees on the background 2d plane model, so it would look more realistic (reference -> the trees infront of the waterfall)

I used 2d planes converted to 3d models rather and a background, and applied renderflags to them. I thought it was one of the only "decent" way of getting a moving sky along with a "bg image".

The WoW Loginscreen was based on the Website Login landingpage, so that they would share the same essence.

Here is a picture of the website login page, it was all done in Photoshop, so that is why it might seem to have a n "unrealistic" view at some angles, and that is also the main reason why the wow loginscreen changes a little bit.

Let me know what you think! :D

Thanks guys,
Soldan.

Beastly. Thanks. :)

Alastor, seems like you are being a bit toxic in this post, in my opinion.

Well done Krang, and thanks for sharing it with the community.

I have been using this for a few days and so far it is amazing, although I am unable to use images bigger than 1024*1024 as backgroud.
Is there any way to use a 1920*1080 image or any other resolution bigger than 1024*1024?

Creatue a custom m2 with a plane, UV it.

I used a skybox, and added alpha renderflags to a custom plane, which let me have a moving sky background behind mountains.

Are some of these models from Star Wars Battlefront II ? :D It looks amazing :)
There is a mix. Some from Battlefront, other from Force Unleashed, etc. I had to edit them alot once I got them in blender though, pain in the ass.

Another project is already in progress with instances
I hadn't realized there was another project ongoing. I just saw your post trying to get the TIE Fighter to work in game. If you need any completed model don't hesitate to ask me :). We also put an instance in, we used Sarlacc's stomach as the instance :D

This is pretty awesome ^^ I wish a server with custom maps was made set in a roleplay environment and exclusively did Starwars.
Thanks Gurluas, yeah it really would be awesome. We have custom scripts and spells set up so when you are in the map, you choose at the start to either play Obiwan, Anakin, Mace Windu, Yoda or Ahsoka and that saves it in a table in the DB and you have that constant display when on the map. Along with mounts, any mount you mount up on will cast a star wars mount so we could keep them theme going on the map.

Thanks for the feedback guy :)

Hey guys,

The server I'm part of recently released a new patch to celebrate it's 8th anniversary.

I decided to post a video and some images here to showoff some of our most recent.. eh.. crazy idea.

Since there is a new Star Wars movie coming out, we thought that we could honor it somehow ingame, so we decided to do a Star Wars themed event for our 8th anniversary. It is also the last bit of work we are doing on the WoTLK client.

The event consists of 3 maps, two based on Tanaris and the Shimmering Flats and the third is an instance.
- 27 different mounts based on Star Wars (such as land speeders, podracers, etc
- 28 transformations based on Star Wars (playable morphs, such as ObiWan, Anakin, Yoda, etc).
- 14 Daily quests
- 52 Achievements
- 11 Pets (Mini TIE fighters, Mini Yoda, for example).
- 8 lightsabres.

I don't really want to go much into detail because I don't want it to seem like a publicity post. As it is more of a work/model showoff post rather than showcasing content such as custom achievements.

I'm going to post a few screenshots below so you guys can see some of the models, and other stuff.

(These last few photos are taken in our design map, where we stick all the NPCs we create to organize them. It was just easier for me to take the screenshots here rather than going around the map individually.)

[media:2cmxerdl]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2zQCT2vifA[/media:2cmxerdl]

I could sit here and put up 27 individual screenshots of mounts, and 28 screenshots of playable characters such as all the clone troopers, storm troopers and jedis, but I don't want to make the post THAT long.

What do you guys think? Are we as crazy as we think we are for doing this?

Tutorials / Re: [Tutorial] Animation Conversion (Blender)

Another little pointer that might help you out a bit is when weight painting, you can select the vertices in edit mode, change back to weight paint and hit F (Painting Mask) and then hit Shift-K and it will paint all the selected vertices.

Makes it ALOT easier to paint. (When I started doing models 2+ years back I used to blindly paint and move the bones via pose mode to check what I was missing).

Nice tutorial, good job :)
