@Bardh, really good job. I'd suggest you creating some hills around your farm house otherwise it looks a little bit flat. But all your works are really atmospheric. Also I would change the lighting in the dark forest zone into smth more violet, blue or redish. Just try to play with lighting settings there.

P.S. Give this guy advanced artist! Oh... If forgot, they don't even exist anymore.

Your work is always awesome bro, that looks amazing.

How could others do that? want to try out some stuff!

What do you mean? If you know how to program and spend 10minutes familiarising yourself with the basic API then you can easily do most of the scripting I do.

If you mean play it, it's not an open server yet. Status can be found on the website: http://www.lightsdawn.net

What do you need done in terms of worldbuilding? Just out of curiousity.

Thanks for the comments, the dark razorfen-like area was made for a custom boss I made and as you see lighting, fog and skybox are very important, cuz I have paid much attention to them, also the house on the grassland, I love wide open areas and that was some kind of thing, though its still unfinished, thank you again for you comments  :D.

Exactly this. You can do a lot of what Harry does just by spending the time to learn Lua and how certain parts of the server work. Although he still does some things that I can't figure out the odd time. :P

Amazing Harry. I love this style of boss fight. Reminds me of Malthael or some LoZ stuff.

I spent some time working on a world map generator. Since I'm pretty bad at mapping myself I wrote an application that can fill a map with randomly generated terrain.
It's still missing normal maps. Generated them with noggit, since I just fill them with up vectors, yeah I'm lazy...
I wanted to expand it with different zones and random placement of trees and stuff like that, but I'm too busy with other stuff atm. :(
The shown area is, I think, 20x20 adts. But the only limit is the maximum amount a wdt can hold.
My plan was to be able to quickly generate a massive worldspace you can start tweaking and filling with content.

Very early version, right after adding texturing based on height level.

A later version with better heights, missing any normal maps.

Current version with noggit generated normals.

Here a closeup from the ground with some trees added in noggit.

Here a generated world map. You can see the untouched areas without normal maps pretty clear here. :)
Grey areas are water + beach.

You've got a decent start there, but here's a few things I've noticed.

  • The amount of repetition of houses is just way too high. I'd personally halve the size of the entire city or get some custom models made to increase variety.
  • Those Belf statues by the guild house don't fit in a Human town, if that's what it is.
  • The ground needs more variation and detail. It's just way too flat and the trees are all too straight. You need hills, mounds, small cliffs, etc...
  • There are a few too many of the same bushes around the farm area. Again, you need variation.
  • The graveyard is just about there, but it needs a bit more detail and the terrain shouldn't be so flat. Maybe have some vines coming down and the odd bush overgrowing a grave here and there. Flowers infront of a tombstone are also a nice touch.
  • The walls look fine and I do like the little river-gate touch.
  • The little pond area in a lake with the gazebo could use a little bit more work. It's a bit too sculpted around the edges.
  • The apple orchards, where you've got rows of apple trees, need variation. Maybe just make the ground a bit less flat and throw in some light undergrowth or something.
  • Those white (rocks?) near the gazebo look utterly terrible. I'd throw them out entirely and try a few different rock models.
  • The Tauren area seems out of place. It's style clashes a bit too much with the Human walls and that.
  • The walled-in Chinese garden looks good, but it also looks slightly out of place with the surrounding area. You can probably get away with it by swapping the tile texture with a human roof texture.
  • The docks look good, mostly.
  • The island in the bay near the docks with just a few trees and rock on it looks like it's lacking something, but I can't put my finger on it.
  • Switching the roof color of houses from orange to blue in some areas looks a bit odd to me. Why would the city use multiple colored roofs in the same area? I mean, a real city would definitely do that, but with more than just two colors.

Overall it's just too flat and things look like they were intentionally placed too properly. I can see it turning out very well in the end, but not as it is now.
