My only rule about wow modding communities is to tell exactly what I think. I won't say some general stuff like "Great job, man. Keep up the good work!!!" if I don't like or don't understand the point of the shown work. This is entirely honest. And people can perceive that the way they want.  Is it actually better to be surrounded with lies and feel like you are doing a good job when you actually don't. Please, no.

Your work is pretty good! I like how your characters are dark gothic-ish, they show alot of the artist's personality  ;)

That's fine. I'm pretty sure alot of people would appreciate your type of opinions then, my friend.

A phrase comes into mind "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

Let me just remind you that this is a Showoff thread, not a "Here's what I think is wrong about your Showoff". Though I suppose you are self-entitled to critique people's work, the reality is that -put simple- no one cares when it's not properly executed. I am sorry to say this but I think you are embarassing modcraft, can you imagine people starting out reading your comments? Do you think they would ever want to share their work with us? I think not because they would fear your professional opinion attacking their work for every little detail. That's not constructive criticism or feedback. That's just you being a negative lame nerd. At this rate there will be no new fresh artists and modders. Someone who 'knows what they are doing' should enourage others, not otherwise.

Ehhh.... I think it's good to rip peoples work apart at-least somewhat. It'll give them idea on what to improve instead of letting them blindly continue on with work that could be much better than it currently is.

Yes. That would be considered a properly executed critique. On many levels, appropriate. I think that when talking about other people or what they're doing "If you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all" applies.

That's a pretty clear "What not to do" for people that got their life/people skills from a garbage can.

Critiques = Much appreciated when properly done.
Opinions = Couldn't care less when no one asks for one.

Sad thing is, opinions tend to be negative. Oh well.

@Alastor
I really like your Draenei faces and horns. :) Especially the corruption-breaking-out-esque stuff and those lines from eyes to mouth! The muscular body looks cool too. The only thing I personally find a little weird are the eyes in your second post tbh. They creep me out a little, lol. ^^ And I love Kerrigan in Zerg form! She was alway my fav hero in Starcraft. I like those "fallen/forsaken" style heros like her and Illidan.

@MountainLion
Thanks. :) No worries I can understand that people don't like the idea of generated content.

Agreed. Wouldn't want sugar coated lies either. This way you won't release stuff nobody wants anyway and be sad in the end. :)

MountainLion: I think you should take that chill pill instead of me. I wasn't offensive nor enraged. NOW its getting personal - but with you. And I am not the one who started. I just said what I thought, I didn't blidly hate. So cheers, here's your pill.

"My only rule about wow modding communities is to tell exactly what I think." - I will sign myself under this. If you want to read some honeyed words to please you, you won't find them in my posts. What you will find there is just honesty. As simple as that.

...better than piece of crap - thats something I will never support. And just btw, I am terrible artist myself, but my terrain looks at least OK enough. Because I wasn't fucking lazy and learned how to do it, in a simple and enough good-looking way. - Relax, some people take offence to cussing especially non-native english speakers

Is there anyone who will disagree with statement, that auto-tune using is killing artistic aspects of music - and what music should be about? Well, you should also agree with fact that no generator should be ever used instead of painting by hand. Generator is robot. Robots don't have emotions. Art is about "explaining" emotions. Robots can't be artists. Thats my opinion on this matter.

You went off-topic just to get your opinion across? Before you answer that I just want to remind you that this is Showoff, not "I'm going to please as many people as I can with the things I want to share with them".

Thank you for having an opinion I suppose. Preferably, keep it nice.

Being nice doesn't mean you have to lie or be dishonest. Thanks again.

If you think you're being a big man for having strong opinions, guess again.

We're adults here that's why we speak civilized. Other people would simply throw and accumulate warnings to profiles.

I never thought it will ever go so far but it did... After 3 years of client side modding I have started to learn with Maya and am going to try to get something custom to WoW :D. Wish me luck with that. Overview of my first, for now non-textured creation:

Any ideas, suggestions and so on? And please, don't try to turn me to Blender. I simply don't want to use that app since its not often being used by proffesional game developing studios and I have decided to aim for pro level designer career.

Just started using noggit yesterday, and wanted to as my first "project" make a mountain.
This is what I got from about 30 min time.

(Couldn't figure out how to post an image, so if you can't view it below, just click the link)

http://postimg.org/image/e0nkrj1yx/

I'm really in need of some feedback on scultping and painting mountains, since I really can't find any video guides on that subject.

Thanks in advance

Definitely not bad for a first try, much better than a lot of others I've seen.

Seeing as you asked for feedback and guides, here's a great tutorial made by TheBug which explains in detail hoe you could create amazing mountains. You can experiment with different styles as well, but it serves as a very good template.

Tbh, its probably the best terrain modelling and texturing performance I have ever seen in "first project ever". Huge thumb up. You are on a very good way.

About styles, I preffer to "find out" my own styles by experimenting. From time to time I just try something new, if it works out I start using it. A lot of my maps are in completely different styles and sometimes I use combinations of them.

About TheBug's guide, his style is very, very similiar to my currently used style (well, I preffer to model and after that texture rocks, but thats up to you, and my rocks are sharp instead of round - I use smaller radius for Raise tools, about 4,5), however, I combine this style with cliffs inspired by Howling Fjord/Dragonblight. Mine are far less detailed than Blizzard's, because I am in need of using "quick" styles to be able to create big maps in a short amount of time. You can watch me doing my older style here:
https://youtu.be/LQbdyl1_3bY?t=1m0s

And a few screenshots with my currently used style:

I am creating those cliffs with Flat Flatten tool, radius around 5-6, and sometimes I raise the whole mountain with linear Raise tool with huge radius set, to make whole landscape more hilly. Well, thats just something for inspiration. You will figure out on your own what and how to do, I am pretty sure about that. Welcome to WoW modding, keep up a good work.
