You're gettin' there. Although I can't help but notice the lack of a neck and that her butt looks slightly disproportioned to the rest of her stance.

Did some tinkering on the magic of MTXP.

All screenshots are not differ in alpha maps at all, but only change MTXP.

Emphasizing how shitty the alpha map work actually is

Texture scaling

differences in dirt and grass

There is two things happening: MTXF (now a part of MTXP) can scale the texture up 1-15 times. MTXP has additional parameters passed to the shader. Since MoP, terrain textures also have a _h variant that defines a height map for the texture. One of the values given is a scale factor for the height map which is then used to determine what layer is actually on top, independent of the handmade texturing. That way, one can draw two layers shittly over each other (the roots over the road) and then still get roots only covering the road where the height of the root layer is higher than that of the road layer (in cracks).

The difference is seen even better in another pair of screenshots disabling nothing but the height-filtering (but not the soft-blending which was also disabled in the "look how shitty the job is done" screenshot pair):

The difference between these two screenshots is a WDT flag alone that toggles whether blending is influenced by _h or not.

Its pretty cool to see how these texture overlaying effects work, I have noticed them before while playing on blizz server and was quite curious about especially those roots on roads in Tanaan. What are you planning to use this for schlumpf?

I don't have more in mind than the documentation, so as soon as I can properly describe MTXP.unk2, I will never touch it again, likely.

More general, though, one should probably look if this is implementable in some editor to allow people to use the awesomeness that comes with it.

On a side note, an official demo of these features is seen in

at the 33m21s mark.

I'm hoping Neo, the editor, they've been working on Scale-able textures, hope they bring it soon!
