A few weeks ago I was messing around with wow modding, and I got to wanting to make my own zone music and ambiances. I already have FL Studio (bought a while back), but I didn't have a midi controller keyboard to use with it. I went to Amazon and bought a Alesis Q88 (88 key midi controller), and I just got it a few days ago.
I plugged it up and loaded up FL Studio and Kontakt, and went to town.

The kind of music I like to mess with is Cinematic/Film Music (Full Orchestras, Choirs, Big Booming Djembe and Taikos, that kind of stuff). I wanted to test the libraries I have for Kontakt and also how much my computer can handle before I went and started creating the projects for Wow.

So I decided to make a song (not thought out or anything, just a random song that test different stuff) that I just started this morning. Turns out it is starting to shape up like an actual song so I think I will keep going with it till it is finished.

Decided I wanted to share it with you all and give you an Idea of what it is I am talking about so here it is =D.

http://freemp3hosting.com/Qvt

I came to realize I suck at wow modding (even though that won't stop me) but wanted to contribute in some way to it. So I decided that I am going to make custom music for the zones and what not and ambiances for people to use in there projects to give it more of that custom vibe.

Anyway let me know of what you think, again that's just a test song I am working on and it is not finished.

Cheers

EDIT: I recommend using headphones or a speaker system that will let you hear everything as it should be, regular computer speakers won't let you hear everything as it should be :).

I really like it too, Keep at it Kranimal! Don't stop even if your computer dies XD, You've got something great going on in that mind of yours!! Maybe you'll even get a Music Index opened on this forum to list your releases on instead of mixing it all up with the usual mod releases.

That said if that Maruum is still a thing, you could probably contribute music to it as well. :)

Really good job !

I was looking for a program to compose new music for Gnomeregan with bass clarinet like Derek Duke has made, but I'm not a musician or composer so I do not know where to start ^^"

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The duration of it and just how it sounds would be perfect for trailers I reckon.  Very well done man, you've got a gift!  Anyone can get a library of awesome and epic sounds/samples/tools etc... however it takes a certain type of person to put all the chaos into something beautiful, and you sir totally have the attributes of being such an individual :)

----------------------

In other news.... I've been retroporting Draenor again.

The chances of me sharing this openly/publicly is really slim, but who knows what the future holds. :)

Well thanks =D, never expected such praise to be honest lol, I appreciate it.

That is really cool, I have been stuck on retro porting for months now and I just can't seem to do it correctly (even with all the guides and tuts out there). Good job =D

Believe it or not the stuff I do, I do by ear, I have no clue how to read or write sheet music (I use to know how when I was younger, mother made me take piano lessons, kinda glad she did now lol.)

There are a couple things you need to be able to do what you are wanting, just to get an authentic sound it will be a little pricey.

1. FL Studio (This is a DAW "Digital Audio Work Station", that you use to make all your mixing/composing in.) There are many DAWS out there so if you want you can look around, but in general they all do the samething, they just go about it differently. The reason I choose FL Studio is it has FREE "LIFETIME" updates, if you have version 10 and they come out with a version 20 10 years later, you get it free from your one time purchase. The package I have cost me around $200 give or take.

2. VST Instrument, you need a program that can emulate each and every note and the different articulations of those notes into your DAW (FL Studio). This is where it gets VERY pricey, these can range from a few bucks to THOUSANDS of dollars to get depending on your choice. The Orchestral String Library you heard in my tracks in the earlier posts cost $800 give or take, but it also emulates EVERY SINGLE NOTE and also each and every articulation for each note from every string instrument you have in an Orchestra. Not to mention the different velocitys, this library takes 112gb of disk space on my computer and thats just the strings lol.

3. Time, it takes patience to do this, you will make something, finish it, not be happy with it, then go back and redo it, over and over and over again. I can't tell you how many times I listened to the 2 tracks above trying to figure out what it is I was gonna do, what needed to be tweaked, what could I change, what can I add to it, what sound would be good here etc... etc....

Hope this helps with what it is you are wanting to do :).

Awesome job, Kranimal. I love game and anime soundtracks, especially WoW soundtracks and I must say your piece really sounds nice. These words come from the mouth of someone who is quite into this exact genre of music and on top of that I have quite the capricious taste. Basically, you really did well ^^

Keep it up.
