This is really awesome. I'd be interested in talking to you about doing more of these - send me a PM or reply here and we can set something up?

Tutorials / Re: [TUTORIAL] Custom NPC

I'm having a problem with the hair again - I can't get it textured in game. The armor works, the skin works, the hair is just untextured. I've tried everything I can possibly think of - dozens of different BLP converters, converters that go straight from TGA to BLP, different ModelViewers. I've gone over the DBC edits over and over again and I can't find any errors. I just keep getting the hair problem. Do you folks have any suggestions? It's driving me insane.

Modelling and Animation / Re: [RELEASE] Cata Goblin to WotLK 3.3.5

I'd like to port these models onto my 3.3.5 ArcEmu server, but only as NPCs. I don't want or need them as a race; how do I go about doing this whilst avoiding the error of missing noses / hair / ears?

Miscellaneous / [QUESTION] TrinityCore - Npc Say Chat Log Bug
« on: April 25, 2014, 01:59:25 am »
Hey there,

I have a bit of a problem using a Mists of Pandaria repack; I just need it for sandbox and Roleplay purposes, but I have come across a bit of a problem.

When I use the ".npc say", ".npc yell" and ".npc textemote"commands, the npcs play the animation for say or yell, including exclaim or question, but I get no text in the chat box or above their head. I'm not sure what the issue is; does anyone have any ideas?

I've been playing around with trying to create a Custom NPC for a while now, and I've not had any luck. Whenever I create a new NPC, the hair doesn't work; it shows, but it is completely untextured. I've done everything to the letter as far as I'm aware, and I don't know what to do to fix this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welp, I solved the problem - the BLP converter was rubbish. I replaced it with the one in the tutorial section, and it worked great.

I'm having some trouble with hair now - the skin and armor (Even the shoulders) work fine, and the DisplayId is showing - but the hair is untextured. I'm not sure why this is - does anyone have a suggestion? I am so very close to getting this working! :|

I use MyDBCEditor to directly edit DBCs (no conversion) and my custom NPCs work fine.

You wonderful saint. This sorted my issue out - the conversion must have buggered it up somehow. Thank you very much!

It must have something to do with the CreatureDisplayInfoExtra.dbc. When I removed that from my custom patch everything reverted to normal - perhaps I'm using the wrong program to implement it? I'm just using notepad, like the tutorial was using. I was replacing the same DisplayID, aswell. I can't for the life of me figure out what the problem is.

Heya!

So I've been trying to get this working, with very little success. I'm using a 3.3.5a ArcEmu server, and I've followed the steps exactly:

1. Create model (without shoulders, helmet or hair) with WoW Model Viewer
2. Export as 3DS
3. Convert to PNG
4. Convert to BLP
5. Find the NPC with the DisplayID I want to replace, note the DisplayID Down, then convert the two DBC files
6. Find the DisplayID in CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc, note it down
7. Open the EntryCreator.jar
8. Reopen Wow Model Viewer, add Shoulders, hair, and helmet
9. Fill in the EntryCreator with ExtraDisplayID, hairstyles, color, facial features, displayIDs for the armor, and the baked texture.blp
10. Hit Show Entry
11. Copy/Paste the Entry into the Export Line, Export it
12. Find the DisplayID's line in the CreatureDisplayInfoExtra.dbc
13. Paste the Export Line to replace the DisplayID's current line, make sure there are no line breaks
14. Re-convert the CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc and CreatureDisplayInfoExtra.dbc into DBC files
15. Use an MPQ editor to create a new patch with DBFilesClient and Textures folders, inside DBFilesClient go the two DBC files, inside Textures, another folder named BakedNpcTextures, then inside that pop the blp file

However, when I go in-game to find my DisplayID, I get this:

This isn't just the single DisplayID that I edited - it's all DisplayIDs for NPC models. Character models are unaffected. What in the seven hells is going on? :(

EDIT: I've done some poking about and it's not go to do with the CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc or the BLP file, it's the fact that I've edited the CreatureDisplayInfoExtra.dbc; doing so has somehow borked up all textures for all models.

Thanks for all of the responses.

I've extracted the areatable from patch-enUS-3.MPQ, and I've found the Sunken Temple (and the Temple of Atal'hakkar, which is its name in-game). According to the posted link to the AreaTable.dbc, columns 9 and 10 are the zone music and zone intro music.

However, these do not pertain to any specific files - in the case of the Sunken Temple, Column 9 is "3" and Column 10 is "0". I don't really have much experience in editing DBC files (I can, naturally, convert them to and from CSV and change some zone names, but that's about it), so do you guys have any suggestions for how to change the music?

You're probably having trouble with Sunken Temple because it is a WMO. It has its own music rather than inheriting the zone music. I don't know how to change this though. I tried hex edit and a notepad search and couldn't find anything related to .mp3, .ogg, or .wav in the WMO file. I imagine the music might be designated in another file but I"m not sure.

Thanks for the response. I've started looking through DBC files for anything that might help, but so far I've had no luck. Even if I found something suggesting a Sunken Temple sound file in the DBCs, I'm not sure what I could do to edit it. I'm not the most experienced tinkerer out there, but I'd have thought that the actual music files for WMOs would be in some sort of MPQ file.

Miscellaneous / MPQ Editing - Instance Music?
« on: February 08, 2014, 07:30:04 pm »
Hey guys, quick - and probably stupid - question.

I'm trying to edit some music for my 3.3.5a Arcemu server, and for all of the outside zones I'm having no issues. However, I want to start editing music for instances - specifically, the Sunken Temple. I can't seem to find an MPQ file containing the music I want to edit. Any suggestions? Thanks!
