It would be great. I mean if I can mod the NPCs so they can use the HD models that would be good, but I'm a beginner so how should I start it? I managed to put in the HD textures and anims for the NPCs too but they lacked some textures don't know why.

I'm entertaining the notion of doing a project like this for my own private WotLK client so I'd like to thank you for this tutorial, it's gonna help a lot. However, I do want to do a mass replacer, so if you could upload all the NPC textures that'd be amazing. :)

EDIT: Never mind. I'll extract the models and such myself, just redownloaded Warlords.

All right, I'm pretty sure I followed all the instructions in the video, made a patch, and put the modified DBFilesClient and Character files into it, but everything still looks the same. What could I be forgetting?

P.S. I've only finished male human so far, but I wanted to check to be sure things were turning out correctly. I tried speeding things up with a fair amount of batch processing, so primarily, I'm wanting to be sure that turned out all right before doing all the other races. If things did indeed turn out all right, I think I'll actually try uploading my patch somewhere for everyone else to benefit from.

Did you make sure the patch is in the data folder and is being called last?

By being called last I mean by it being the highest number or letter like Patch-Z.MPQ.

Also make sure that your wow.exe is modified for model and dbc edits otherwise they won't show up.

Another issue could be in Creaturemodeldata.dbc you might of misnamed the model and it's location I'd recommend once done with the model and want to test to rename it to what the none HD version is called.

What sort of error are you getting?

I recommend removing the _HD from the model name but leaving it with the textures and then opening CharSections.dbc with DBCUtil turning it to CSV format for easier editing and just add _HD to the lines save and make it back into a DBC and it should work fine.

Okay, well I guess the fact that I called it patch-hd may be part of the issue, although in the meantime I tried adding the files to common.mpq, and still nothing changed.

Although I have no idea what it means to have wow.exe modified for model and dbc edits, so I suppose its safe to say that that isn't done. How do I do that?

Yeah don't do that with the patch name and don't modify blizzard patches either that won't end well.

Here's an exe you can use, with this exe you don't need to make a patch just simply make a folder called Patch.yourletter.MPQ and it will read it like it was an MPQ.

Thanks for this tutorial. But how do you fix UV mapping for races like Tauren and Undead who don't have their face at the same place ?

All races have the face at the same place. The problem with the undead and the tauren is that they have some extra stuff where the head is supposed to be in wotlk. You can use my action set to crop that extra part and then modify some dbcs  to apply that as an extra texture (find out how the tauren extra fur texture works in wotlk and mimic the system).

But the legs mesh UV is both on the leg (right part, like other models) and on the hoof texture (on the left part) so there is a problem there. The model will try to find the hoof in the same file than the legs.

However, it makes me wonder : the model find the faces textures with Lower&Upper, right ? So that part (bottom left) will never be read for the face. I will try to put the UV like with other races without changing the textures and I'll see myself.

The model will try to find the hoof in the same file than the legs.

You need to separate that part from the rest of the mesh and modify the texture used by that geoset with 010 editor.

Hey, i have a basic problem to get all geosets ect from the original m2/skin files.
I use 2ModRedux and open the m2i file in blender , in this case the male scourge, but in blender i miss some facial and all bones. I Try it with m2mod4 too.
I know that there is a lot and that they not work in game , but why i dont have them in blender?
Forget i something or need an extra step?
