Or, one could use the repacked ones.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by that.

Do you mean wait until someone releases them or are you talking about the WoD player models Rangorn released for MoP?

Yes you need anything from WotLK - MoP not Retail MoP an old Installation like 5.4.8 because the new patch on live removed all the MPQ files so you need another installation of wow to be able to use WMV.

Honestly the best way would be if everyone who were interested worked together to port the models. Looks like it's too much work for anyone to complete himself. Also feels unlikely someone will work from start to finish by himself porting the models.

I already ported them all the main thing for me is that there are over 4k textures mostly facial textures that I have to redo... besides that the models can be ported in about 15 minutes just the amount of facial textures are annoying...

And if you are thinking of releasing them, what is the point of the tutorial? Why would someone start fresh?

Best way would have been if people contributed by helping to convert those 4000 textures (probably npc textures?). 4000 textures seems like a lot for one guy....

Anyways thats my thought.

Well I'm not releasing them any time soon since I don't really have the time to convert 249 facial textures for the human male face alone and 4k for player models I'm not including the npc textures.

In a perfect world people would group and help each other but sadly that doesn't happen to often in the real world.

Huge thanks for this tutorial. Now community will have a bit less requests about to upload all hd character models for leeching. At least now we can tell them to do it by self via this tutorial :D

It's a no problem, most people don't intend to release the models so I decided to just make a tutorial since I don't have the time to do all the textures needed, so now people know how it's done.

Phantom, what facial textures?
I don't recall there being that many.
if you're referring to the baked npc textures, you can always use the "Goblin" trick, where you rename the old model to human_old and let npcs use that.

The face textures is around 800 textures, also 800 pelvis textures, around 600 scalps and around 600 facialtextures + 400 hair textures. 800 + 800 + 600 + 600 + 400 = 3200. So its alot.
