Yes, but I lack the knowledge to do so.

Updated topic for 2017.
I've made a repack out of barncastles emulator and made various changes to its DB which makes the game world look a lot better, you won't be seeing blue boxes everywhere anymore.

Updated ogre patch with small fix and created a patch that contains both old succubus and old ogre.

Cheers lad!

No issues found so far other than the stuff posted above.
The sound problem shouldn't be any problem to fix.

Miscellaneous / [RELEASE] Final Classic Alpha Pack
« on: July 15, 2016, 07:31:39 am »
I've collected a bunch of stuff for alpha over the years and I've found a fast way to teleport around in alpha. Today I'm sharing what I have kept stored for years. At the bottom you can find instructions how to use the client properly.

Alpha client release by ANiMANiACS back in 2003:
https://mega.nz/#!VdIQFRgZ!xlhdxt6RQjbFXDFmXNjvfpsiiGD7M1wa-LHTIaQE24E
Seems to be rare around the net nowadays, so I uploaded it for whoever wants the original release.

GM client worldports and various GM macros from blizzard:
https://mega.nz/#!MYBi3D4R!yYxSMjR4cU7I0Oy3YUK7aFivWtBjm-8lhWw1dv-bKIU
Includes 1500 worldports, keep in mind that this was backported from a higher patch and may include some worldports from other patch. All of the worldports included are 100% from Blizzard and none have been made by hand.
To install, just open the folder and drag all of the content within AlphaWP into your WTF folder. If you want GM macros not related to worldports as well, then drag AlphaGM to your WTF folder as well.

All old alpha emulators:
https://mega.nz/#!RYpQFRhB!uwunx-FDPON0xxSBw8Wrm2nI9nQSNuFFAph6XdVNbbE
I don't suggest using any of the emulators above and instead use the latest emulator by barncastle. The ones included in the EMU download should only be treated as history by now. If you wanna compile it yourself it can be found here: https://github.com/barncastle/Alpha-WoW

Barncastle Alpha WoW emulator repack:
I've made some changes to the database, removed all blue boxes from the world by only allowing existing displayids. Dwarf mages are now playable and I've fixed an issue with NPCs going half invisible. It's a repack, so it's very fast and easy to setup.
Download can be found here:
https://mega.nz/#!BZJXxQbJ!Gp6VA1vDKnddtSfUUBK9VUqmYOH-MHP5Tyby-USzW6w

Alphaconnect.rar, includes wow.ses and realmlist. If you have those files already you won't need to download it:
https://mega.nz/#!BZogAB4Y!l4wZkCLmC8-2JfdT427NIl5FVS4g3u8AOpOGZaPivaQ

Many people claim that the performance in the alpha client is unstable, something which is not true. The problem people are facing is that they are using a very old directx version on a modern OS. It is highly recommended that you change from directx to opengl when playing alpha since older opengl runs better with modern OS. With opengl I run alpha with stable 60+ fps.

In order to change to opengl from directx, go into your WTF folder and open config.wtf and edit the line that says:
Code: [Select]
SET gxApi "direct3d"and change it to
Code: [Select]
SET gxApi "opengl"If you can't find gxApi anywhere in your config, then just add the line yourself.

In order to launch the game you need to create a shortcut for WoWClient.exe and add the following after the shortcut:
Code: [Select]
-uptodate If you plan using the worldport and GM macros above, you must add the following to your shortcut:
Code: [Select]
-consoleIf you want window mode, add this to your shortcut:
Code: [Select]
-windowed
If you plan using the Barncastle repack the setup guide is as following:
1. Extract it anywhere
2. Run Start MySQL.bat
3. Run Worldserver.exe

Finally if you want to launch the game and connect to the game server, drag the contents of AlphaConnect.rar into your alpha folder. Run the game with your shotcut and hit OK when a window appears. When you see the login screen, hit change realm button and select a realm.

Keep in mind if you plan on modifiying your speed, the max speed is 60 however it will cause graphic glitches, so for optimal speed use 59 instead. Another thing to note is that if you use Barncastle emulator, your character will start naked until you press either z or x.

Optional: Once you have created your character and entered the game world, hit the console key and type in any WoW zone. Press enter and you will instantly be teleported to the zone.

Happy digging!

Been working on retro porting the original alpha gnome female to 1.12.1, I'm only porting the textures over since the release model is clearly superior to the alpha one, mixing alpha textures and release model and you get something that doesn't look that bad.

Pretty good result so far:

The only problem that I have with the texturing atm is getting the ears to line up properly, but I think I have an idea on what I will do.

I really need to work on my communication skills

I wanted to check out what kind of songs and music you had added, but when I tested the patch it gave me an error about CreatureDisplayInfo. I opened it up and saw that all the files were from your Druid form patch, I guess?

There are no audio files  :o
yeah, seems he released the wrong patch.

seems nostalrius is now dcing people with modified base .mpqs too, so I wouldn't suggest using this on nostalrius.

What program did you use to edit Undead bone size?
I used no program to edit it. When WoW was originally released undeads had larger shoulder size. The last undead model to still have big shoulder is from patch 1.1 iirc and .m2 has not changed throughout entire vanilla. So all I had to do was grab undead model from patch 1.1 and make a custom patch for it.
You don't want the release version of undead model, since it lacks cannibalize animation (it was added in later patch.)

I don't suggest porting the model that my patch contains to other expansions, since it will lack certain animations added in later expansions. So if you are to make a big undead shoulder patch for another expansion you would have to edit shoulder bone of the undead model, iirc you have to edit the size of shoulder attachment bone.

Ogres are working fine, succubus model is using the 1.4+ texture tho. Any reason for this to happen?
Also, did you have to convert those models from mdx to m2?
reason why succubus is using 1.4 textures is because I've used dbc editing on both the ogre and succubus patch in order to replace the model/texture of all creatures who used to have it. They are not compatible with eachother.  If you remove the ogre patch, the succubus patch will start working correctly aka show the old texture.

I can make a patch that includes dbc edits for both succubus and ogre.

I was wondering, isn't possible to add the "big shoulders undead" in the wotlk (or more ofc) with some .skin hexediting ? It's can't be that hard, I mean, it's just a scaling.

Or i'm totally wrong ?
Yeah, making a big shoulder patch for wotlk should be possible by scaling the bones.

I've created a big shoulder patch for Nostalrius players running on enUS clients. Only enUS atm because  I don't have any enGB client.

Any chance of adding Azeroth's second moon back? That was removed in 1.4 but later reinstated when Mists of Pandaria was released.
Yeah, that can probably easily be done.

Just gonna do some research first.

Aight so, from what I've noticed is that the blue moon appears at around 1 am on patch 1.1 and when I later attempted to see the moon at around 1 am again, the blue moon didn't appear.

I managed to get the blue moon visible again by relogging at 1 am, however by logging out at like 1:01 am made it disappear.

So from my understanding it seems like the blue moon only appears for players who login within the first minute of 1 am. If you login at 1:01 or past that you won't be able to see it. If you logged in at 1 am but relogged at 1:05 you won't be able to see it no more.

On 1.12.1 no second moon appears if you login at 1 am. No extra moon appears at 1 am on patch 1.8 at 1 am either.

Koward, any news on the bear thing? :)

Few other things you might consider:
- There is a separate model file for ghost wolves, I have no idea why. If I remember right, there are some rares with this model and there are definitely some ghost wolves in SFK. If it's not too much work, you could make a ghost version of the new model too.

- The elf (high elf) models in Vanilla are absolute garbage:

This annoyed me to no end back in Vanilla. They are not actually wearing any items, they have different skins for the same model. Do you think it is feasible to replace them with TBC models? I am not sure how one could change this. Somehow merging the TBC models with the models of some particular items, perhaps?

And do you have any idea why the camera for the male model is not focused on the face? Same thing happens with bats, btw.

There are 8 models in total now: mage, priest, hunter and warrior, one for each gender. The NPC Garek uses the mage texture but the model of a warrior, for some reason. There should be a way to fix this. I know people have changed their gnomes to undead and other such stupid nonsense, so this should be possible too. Any ideas?

P.S.
This is what Garek should look like:

Except maybe the texture should be the blue one, though red makes more sense for Badlands. However, in my modelviewer, the male priest and male mage do not have any additional textures to choose from. The mage has this red skin, and that is that. If perhaps changing the whole models is too much work, maybe it would make sense to change the textures a bit and fix this sort of thing? Maybe even add new textures for some NPCs?
Should be very easy to fix the high elf model to use tbc. You can move files directly from tbc alpha and then just do some dbc edits and bam ur done. It's can even possible to without dbc edits.

I will probably try it later today, if it works like I think it does then patch can be released today.
