Anyway sclumpf, whats gone awry in your daily life?  Having a bad week?  Why not share about it, it's in the Random thread anyway. :D

What's different with the usual Schlumpf? He's always been like this (about working with post-wotlk assets on wotlk).

I honestly wouldn't know to be honest, i officially came back to the wow modding scene yesterday. before that up until last october, i've been hacking browser games.  before I had left, he was a smooth talker.  I suppose things have gotten a bit tighter in his daily life.

Nah, this is classic Schlumpf. Kinda funny his name means "Smurf" but he is the most bitter of us all xD

+ Alot of people think that converting content from Cata/MOP hinders emulation rather than promotes it :P and Schlumpf has been here for like ages, he has seen his fair bit of copying and retextures, understandable that he is getting tired of it :P

Because everyone want stay on Wotlk but we want everything from cata/mop/wod here on wotlk thats the point

Fake ! :(

Actually, i hate Wotlk, so 2008, so fucking old.
Since 2011-2012, i'm hardly working on cataclysm, everything is possible, except mapping :(
Mjollna ADT Converter is working, but this is really annoying, one mistake on noggit and the adt is fucked up :D

Since 2 weeks, i try do to some model changing on my mop local, everything is like Cataclysm, except HD Models, this take me around 15 minutes to put HD Models 100% working on Mop, and 6-7 hours 80/85% working on Cata/Wotlk.

So, try Cataclysm, it's not bad :D

Ps : Nice work Fillipson

Me personally, I just do what I wish to do. if people want to hate, let them hate.  I have tons of haters, like tons, like a few thousand lol.  If I want to do something in Cata, I do it in Cata, if I want to do something on Live MoP. same deal... I'm doing the maps for both Cataclysm 406 and WoTLK 335a.  Why? why not? It's not wasting any one's else's time but my own.

Those cars that I've been doing, that's on Cataclysm and MoP(same format, meh...), it's just like music, whatever I'm feeling for at the moment.

And besides as noted before, if I'm annoying anyone, just slap me with that ban hammer. I've been banned from so many places already, it's nothing new. :D

@Rangorn.

Can you please explain what makes cataclysm a better engine for modding?

There is NO TOOLS specifically for Cata except for M2MOD4.

You cannot use any of the great new graphics features such as scalable ground textures on terrain for your custom maps.

Exactly what is better with it than 3.3.5 xD?

It's not only graphism.

It's about time, i don't want to stay in a old rev of World Of warcraft, Blizzard is currently working on the 5th expansion, modders are on the second....
Actually, i'm a roleplayer, Cata and Mop have more content than Wotlk.

In Cataclysm and mop, there is a thing i like : Spells
You can hold things, playing some animskit etc....

I just don't want to stay on old version of this game, i want to evolve, i'm not a dinosaur :(

You say there is no tools  for cata, but MPQ Editor, 010 editor, DBC Ediitor, blpc etc... are working
And all maps progs can be done on 3.3.5 and set to cata with mjollna adt converter.

Most important part of privates server are on Cataclysm or Mop, i think modders should do the same.
(Except for players which prefer the pve/pvp system of Wotlk)

That's why you should take the initiative to make tools instead of continuing to make excuses or waiting for someone else to do it.  ^_^  Sliding up on that excuse isn't very strong.  In Cataclysm, you can have selective Shadow casting on models.  In WoTLK, the entire mesh casts a shadow, in Cataclsym, you can decide which geoset casts a shadow and which ones do not.

There are a few other things, like with WMO's, there are some interesting render systems in place and if you set them up just right you can have some pretty cool Glass effects. :D

Also again with tools, I've made myself 010 Editor scripts to handle specific things, like auto setting enchant points with models created with Garthog's OBJ to M2 Tool, The script fixes the m2 and skin files to Cataclysm, because if you don't change them, they don't casts shadows when you hold them.  And it also auto sets attachment points and locations for Enchants.

I've made a lot more scripts that do specific things on a variety of file types.

I plan to but I'm still deciding if I should start a new website first or not.  I will decide final on August 20th , Because it is my renew for my webhost, if I decide to renew or get new domain and host instead.  And then I will have to write a small simple layout for the car downloads.

If you want to try a beautiful car, you can try to use the ones I have been using, but they are higher polygon than what is allowed with M2Mod4, So you will have to do polygon crunch, lowering on some things and re-uv wrap in some cases.:
http://slg.serv1.free.fr/forza3_cars.html

I try to squeeze the textures to one large 1024x1024 texture but if sometimes there are lots of textures like with NFS:SHIFT2 cars, I squeeze and re-uv them to Two large textures.  But do as you want to do it. :D

Many cars here, I plan to do the Maserati GT when I give up or finish the ADT project.

I have successfully achieved most aspects of wow modding on 4.0.6a. (Models, Spells, Maps, Login Screens, etc..) There is no reason not to start developing cata more.

Hopefully, now with this mindset, someone will create a better M2Mod that doesn't use an ancient version of Blender. Maybe even custom animations, and all from inside blender, and not using 20 different programs.

One to rule them all.
