It looks very good, nice work on your mod. I would give it a try if i could.

But also, how did you get working npc wod models for WoTLK? I can't find those anywhere
Read my post, it is included in my .mpq

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/file/ukfk1cuyey78b01/Taunka_HD_models.7z/file

• Patch-Z.mpq is the taunka edit, all other .mpq are the HD models. This patch will only work with the HD models. If you do not like the HD models, see "SD Model".
• If you already have the updated character models, just place patch-z in data.
• If you do not, place ALL .mpq in data folder.
• If you have updated models but not for npcs, delete your .mpq and place ALL downloaded .mpq in data folder.
• For Warmane clients, Remove patch-X, Patch-W, patch-enUS-W and patch-enUS-X from the data and data\enUS folders. place ALL downloaded .mpq in data folder.
• For project Ascension players, Just rename my patch-A to patch-B and rename my original Patch-B to patch-C

Stand-Alone patch-z (for those who know what they are doing and avoid the big download size)- http://www.mediafire.com/file/6t6z3rrcpq3nf3n/Patch-Z.7z/file

If your getting crashes/low fps in dalarn, it is because WOW can only use 2gb of RAM. Download https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/ to allow the wow.exe to use more than 2gb of RAM.

"Retro-Porting" / Re: Tauren to taunka 3.3.5 UPDATE: support for HD models
« on: December 20, 2018, 05:20:09 am »
Update: fixed the tauren npcs hair from previous version. Tauren male npcs now have horn textures slightly off, but it is better than the hair bug before-hand, barely noticeable, and all other npcs are perfectly fine.

Also adds the option to select taunka hair/tail color for more customization. "Horn Color" is replaced by "Hair color" and changes the hair/tail color. If you don't like how it looks on your existing tauren, go to the barber and change it.

After tooling around, I was able to add support for the HD models using a combination of warmanes, Finsternis, and Bocoio WOD character model patches as well as modifying some of my files in the previous version.
This new HD version actually fixes A LOT of bugs with the original. All npcs use the WOD models, including tauren npcs and no longer suffer from blurred faces. Tauren male npcs horn textures are slightly off, but barely noticeable, and all other npcs are perfectly fine. This patch also adds eyes to the player taunka. Helms are no longer blue cubes.

"Horn Color" is replaced by "Hair color" and changes the hair/tail color. If you don't like how it looks on your existing tauren, go to the barber and change it.

Thank you to all the developers of the wod character models, and special thanks to Finsternis for helping me resolve some bugs :)

OLD SD MODEL (classic character models)
This is a improved version of my old https://www.ownedcore.com/forums/world-of-warcraft/world-of-warcraft-model-editing/433012-tauren-taunka-swap.html . This patch is converted to wotlk, as I figured it would have more use on this patch than 5.4.

This swap changes the tauren model to taunka, and improved features are skins matching orginal tauren skin colors, and no more blank facial hairs! Tooltip names are also changed from Tauren to Taunka for more immersion. npcs still have blurred faces. Helms are slightly misplaced, can always hide helm.

Photoshop is saving the .pngs at a higher pixel count than the wotlk client can handle. Its been a long time since I have messed with pngs, but if i remember correctly there is a extension for Photoshop that allows you to save the .pngs as 512x512 resolution ( what the png needs to be at for wotlk). do some googling around

Modelling and Animation / [Question] Remove helm on model swap?
« on: December 16, 2018, 07:44:56 am »
Hey all, I have a model swap I am slowly improving on, it is tauren to Taunka for 3.3.5. I am wondering how to disable helms for npc and character models because currently helms are broken on the race and appear as blue cubes. I know it is a dbc edit, but can't remember where as its been a long time since I have tooled around in .mpqs.

Here is a link if anyone wants to take a look at it: http://www.mediafire.com/file/1hxtjiit9b8gwt4/patch-4.mpq/file

"Retro-Porting" / Re: [RELEASE] [WotLk] Character Models(no npc)
« on: December 15, 2018, 09:07:41 am »
Are you able to send me a copy of the patch but without the Tauren models? I have my own edit for them :D

Think porting legion to wotlk might just be a little above your skill level. Try starting out with simple swaps in 3.3.5 and then start working with .dbc files and blender/3dsmax. plenty of guides on how to do these. once you understand the basics then continue trying to port legion models.

and fun fact: schlumpf is never wrong :)

« on: January 11, 2018, 04:55:34 am »
Hey, noob here with no experience with mods, just made an account to say thanks and to ask how do i install this?

Have been looking for this for around a week and i'd like to get it to work
Download wowme.exe, place in wow directory. ( where the tbc normal wow.exe is located. for example mine is E:\World of Warcraft - The Burning Crusade 2.4.3.) Then download the .mpq file. place that in the same area, except now go into the data folder. ex: E:\World of Warcraft - The Burning Crusade 2.4.3\Data. launch wowme.exe and your good to go.

Holy Moly Guacamole I am stoked to see this! Thank you so much @leeviathan!!
I have been reborn to want to "Play" (rather than code ElvUI backport all the time) TBC again now with this final piece of the missing puzzle. Thank you thank you!

PS: This is or isn't compatible with Bambay's mods?
Tested and works for bambys mod.

Modelling and Animation / Fast way to edit baked textures?
« on: November 10, 2017, 09:50:11 pm »
I am trying to fix some baked textures after swapping a character model with a another unused one. The player looks fine, but the npc faces are all messed up. I extracted BakedNpcTextures as I understand I need to replace their face files with my current swapped race. But there are over 15,000 blp files with no names of meaning. Am I suppose to convert each one as a png, see if its a tauren, and then change it? or is there a faster way?
