Level Design / Re: [SUGGESTION] [NOGGIT] Object duplication option
« on: June 21, 2016, 07:18:28 pm »
Well it's just that i'm mostly linux guy when it comes to stuff and i have very low experience with compiling on windows. I even failed to compile specific map extractor that i need very much... not sure where to ask for help.

Custom Noggit compile would be great though. I could implement some simple changes/functions in SDL instead of begging for them to happen like cursor settings auto-save or object replication with an evil twist or even object-to-file keyboard shortcut :D

Not to mention scripting API for Noggit.

Wish i could access wiki. Sadly i can't :D

Thank you very much. That really worked. Before i was just trying to clear while staying in the middle of that mess and it never went away. I now realized that those stripes might be coming from another ADT. I solved it by going up very high and looking down so it was in fact easy to see all the area, quickly move between ADTs and remove the crap. Lesson learned!

Ok thanks, i get it. Still can't clear the water.

Level Design / How to remove all WMOs from ADT?
« on: June 20, 2016, 12:53:29 pm »
I'm suspecting that one of, lately added, WMOs causes Noggit to crash. Is there a way to remove all WMOs from ADT? I tried Taliis which seems to have an option to at least see them and it suggests me to rename (not sure if Noggit won't crash if file doesn't exist in path?) but then it won't save the file. I tried like 10 times and nope, Taliis doesn't save. I also tried to hexedit the ADT and renamed files but Noggit still crashes on load.

Is there another tool that can process the ADT and reconstruct its content without WMOs? Or is there another method like extracting height map and other stuff and inject that into fresh ADT? Or maybe some trick to lock the wmo chunk in ADT so it is ignored or setting some counter of present WMOs to zero?

21
Should i use Noggit for this or another tool? Because i actually tried to clear water in fact but after save and reload of the map it still says type 0. Also, how do i select particular ADT in Noggit? Is it selected automatically after doing any change to a chunk within ADT?

Then let's hope that cursor settings save function comes to SDL anytime soon :)

It's a downconverted cata map, not regular one. I'm just asking how to fix water.

Level Design / [SOLVED] [NOGGIT] Strange water behaviour on the map
« on: June 19, 2016, 08:18:35 pm »
This cata map works flawlessly on my wotlk. But when i tried to load it in Noggit i got strange, annoying, vertical strips that are changing constantly when i'm moving around. Did anyone came across similar issue? Any ideas how to fix this? Is it possibly height map problem or else? Once again: it works very well in wotlk client, just not in Noggit.

EDIT:
I accidently tried to disable water display and problem disappeared. So it is related to water on the map. I investigated a bit more and water edit says "0 - unknown type". Changing water with water edit does absolutely nothing and it is still of unknown type. I'm clueless :/

I appreciate this spoon feeding but you forgot one thing - you are not using latest Noggit. So trust me, there is a bug in new SDL. It's easy to reproduce and cause painting to lock completely while playing with texture swaps. I tried several times and it worked. It is somewhere between those combos that you have to do in proper order. I will sit on this tonight and try to either make a video or bring here a step by step instruction how to reproduce.

EDIT:

It took me a while to realize that i was wrong about the bug and i'm sorry about that. The locking takes place when swapper is open and that's it. Still i would call it an annoyance because when you change textures a lot when looking for something decent or trying to find a perfect match - you need to swap many times and closing and then re-opening the swapper is killing me.

Why not just make swapper extend the 3d paint window? So we could simply roll it up/down when needed while being able to paint all the time.

That branch seems way more active... should i switch from SDL?

Is this piece of beauty available for alpha or beta testers? Me wants to try it so hard... i promise to bring lots of ideas/improvements if i'm allowed to.

Level Design / [SUGGESTION] [NOGGIT] Save cursor settings
« on: June 19, 2016, 12:35:06 pm »
Each time i start Noggit i need to change the default cursor options (i prefer a different color than default grey one). It would make it so much easier if we could have it saved and loaded from config on startup or even auto-saved all cursor settings on exit so it appears exactly same next time we start the app.

Yes it is. But the process of swapping is kind of non-intuitive to me. A good example being that once you swap you don't see that new texture in "select texture" window. You have to close that window, start painting with new texture and then you open it again and there it is... instead that window should simply update the content of particular slot on the fly where swap took place. It also doesn't appear in swapper at all which is another flaw of the GUI design imho and could have been done a bit better. This function is very important from the design point of view and has to be as easy and intuitive as possible.

When being on it, i would love "to file" and "from file" for textures just like it is for objects now (pretty basic but works and that's cool). Kind of "favourite textures", similar to "view textures" but only for favourited ones. Would make it so much easier to collect and have useful textures handy.

I also think that i found a bug. After swapping a texture i can't paint anymore. Not just with the new one but any of them and same for all other chunks. The new texture appears in "select texture" just fine same as others. It just won't allow me to paint.

EDIT:

Wow. I just did it again. It is very easy to replicate these steps. Painting is completely locked after that and takes re-opening the project map to unlock...
