[QUESTION] AnimationData.dbc edits don't show up in-game
« on: May 09, 2015, 05:32:43 am »
I've tried modifying ID 110 (HoldRifle) to show weapons when animation is in progress by changing the value of the 3rd column to 32. However, the changes don't show up in game.

I've checked to make sure the SpellVisual, SpellVisualKit, AnimationData, are all correct. I've added the DBC to my client and server side. The change isn't appearing.

Also, if I try to copy the row and change the value in SpellVisualKit to match the new AnimationData ID, no animation shows up at all.

Which leads me to the conclusion that any changes you make to AnimationData.dbc do NOT show up client side.

Because you are not the first one who tried to edit them ...
so i as one of those who tried ... must say just this ...

you are in some way right beacuse i edited lot of things in animations and i never figured out exact ways how it could work whenever i edited anim to do something WoW just did something totaly else ....

I have no idea how to work with these correctly but i plan to try it in future again

Alastor, need I remind you of this post?

( and as i see ... nobody never managed it here )

Proven false before.

Please stop with all these "..." as if to imply, yet again, that animations are problematic.  They're not.  As for OP, you haven't clearly described your issue well enough... aside from listing some things you've tried that didn't work.  And your deduced reasoning from some of them is incorrect.

Spam?  I told OP he needs to further clarify his issue.  I don't see how helping OP is spam, but okay.

Uh I told you my exact issue. I can't get edits in AnimationData.dbc to show up in game. And what do you mean by my reasoning is incorrect? I didn't list the reasons why I'm having the issue. I posted here to figure out why I'm having the issue.

The thought process and reasoning/deductions you made in coming to that conclusion are not all correct.

Isn't that why I posted the thread in the first place? It looks to me that you're just here trying to cause drama. Post something constructive or move along.

He is, and he never does anything else. I guess it is time for a permanent ban by now, unless he can provide a good reason not to by actually helping someone once.

I don't know why you posted here.  Presumably it was to find a way to get this to work, which isn't the same as admitting in the OP that you know your logic and reasoning was wrong.  It could just as easily mean, as I took it to, that there must be something else you're overlooking (rather than you simply being incorrect because you so diligently looked over your work).

I'm pretty sure I told you a couple posts ago that you need to provide greater clarification for what you're trying to achieve.  To phrase it another way (i.e., spoonfeed you), what you initially described for HoldRifle doesn't make sense as that's how it currently functions (in my client anyway - and it's not an animation I've altered).

You people are your own worst enemies in getting your issues fixed.

Fuck the high horse you rode in on.  It's okay when you're an asshole, but not for anyone else?  Or is it not okay to you because you choose to neglect the posts I do help people in?  Oh, I'm sorry I don't hold their hand and write them a step-by-fucking-step guide on something that'd be easy if they took two seconds to think through an issue or use the search function.

Let's see.  Before I even read this bullshit I was the first person to help MR. Farrare: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=9180&p=46479#p46479

This thread is full of your kind of help insofar that it's telling a person what they're not doing and how they could help themselves.

Albiet a showoff thread, but showing an alternate way to solve a problem: viewtopic.php?f=93&t=9171&p=46438#p46438

Pointing Petisoo in the right direction for the shit he was looking for: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9110&p=45936#p45936

Answering Skarn's question: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9052&p=45705#p45705

And where this thread practically started, showing how trivial animations are to deny the people saying it can't be done (i.e., Alastor): viewtopic.php?f=93&t=9058&p=45700#p45700

All that in less than a month.  Sure, I don't share nearly all my knowledge.  Is that a crime?  Neither do you.  Sure, I don't hold their hand.  Neither do you.

Do you even slightly realize how incredibly condescending you make yourself look?

Regardless, I've given all the information I have on the matter. If you can't come to a conclusion based on that information, and require more, then perhaps you could point me in the right direction to give you the information you're looking for.

If you can't be bothered or if you repeat the same thing you've uttered 3 times on this thread over the course of the last few days, then I'm going to politely ask you to please leave this thread alone so that someone else can look into my problem and perhaps draw a fix from the information I've provided.
