Noggit / [QUESTION] Custom Continents without YiasContinentCreator?
« on: September 04, 2014, 09:01:37 am »
I've recently started to try to get back into Noggit (it's been a good 2-3 years) but my computer & brain has changed quite a bit. I'm still having to relearn a lot of things, and one of the things that has slipped my mind is continent creation.

I tried Yias Continent Creator, but it doesn't seem to work anymore. Gave the error that it couldn't find a path, so I did as was suggested and made a .reg and ran it, now it just crashes straight up.

Are there any other programs that I can use for continent creation, as well as perhaps a guide to refresh my brain? I've been getting used to Noggit all day, and continents seem to be my only problem. Thanks in advance.

I know this has been asked a lot, but I'm getting frustrated now as to why I can't get to this to work.

So basically, I'm testing out creating a new "continent" in a patch, which requires editing the 'map.dbc' file. I added in a new row in the .dbc for my continent, and put it into a patch. It's in the right place and everything, and when I run WoW, it gives me a "Version Mismatch" error.

I think I'm missing something. What I'm doing is, extracting the map.dbc from the locale-enUS.MPQ, opening it up in Taliis, cloning & renaming the Kalimdor row, inserting the new map.dbc into my Patch-N.MPQ (which also contains my ADT & WDT terrain files) and then placing Patch-N.MPQ into my Data folder.

I don't know why, but I'm just not seeing the logic as to why in the world it gives me a Version Mismatch error after I think I'm doing it all right...

Here's a quote from the post I read. I'm having trouble understanding it completely...

4. It is possible that more then one version of a file exists in the WoW MPQs. They can also have different versions. So if you extract the wrong file, it can crash your patch. To avoid this, extract the MPQs all into one folder on your HD in the following order and overwrite existing files.

From the WoW/data folder
- common.MPQ
- common-2.MPQ
- expansion.MPQ
- lichking.MPQ
- patch.MPQ
- patch-2.MPQ
- patch-3.MPQ

From your localisation folder (data/enUS for US clinet)
- locale-enUS.MPQ
- expansion-locale-enUS.MPQ
- lichking-locale-enUS.MPQ
- patch-enUS.MPQ
- patch-enUS-2.MPQ
- patch-enUS-3.MPQ

Any ideas? Sorry if this has been brought up many times before, but I really don't know what else I can do. Also, just in case, here's the full error right here that occurs as soon as I launch WoW.

ERROR #121 (0x85100079) Version Mismatch
Program: "my wow.exe"

DBFilesClientMap.dbc has the wrong number of columns (found 126, expected 66)

I also just had a thought. Would I even be able to travel to the continent, if this is only done client-side? Or does work need to be done server-side too?
