It seems as though I can do everything fine, up to the point of opening worldserver.exe.

I can get the mysql_start and authserver to both run fine, but I can't run worldserver.exe. I'm keeping all windows open and such but when I open worldserver it pops up for a moment, then closes instantly.

It looks like it's saying something like

'map file /maps #########.map does not exist.'

right before it closes. I'll keep trying to play around with it to see if I can find what i did wrong.

EDIT 1: it could have been something wrong with the extract client files part, but I'm not sure. I'll check with that.

EDIT 2: Okay, I forgot I had to have my WoW in the Client335aNoggit folder, and not in a folder INSIDE the Client335aNoggit folder. But I have another problem.  When I run the 02extractClientFiles.bat, at the end it says 'using Buildings as source directory and writing output to vmaps
Could not read dir_bin file!
exit with errors'

I should also note that both the Buildings and vmaps folders are empty.

I'm on wotlk 335a, and I remember you used to not need to do anything to the server as long as you have the modified patch in your client.

Is this still possible? If I'm on a 335a wotlk server is it still possible to get custom continents? Because I'm trying to .go and the 'target map or coordinates is invalid'. Did I do something wrong, or is it just not possible without adding stuff to the server?

I believe I did everything except for recreating the wdt file. However, for the offset fixer, do I have to drag all the ADTs onto the program or just run the program once with all the ADTs in the same folder?

Thanks, that is exactly what I was looking for.

I do have a question though, as far as adding ADTs to existing continents. As a test, I tried adding ADTs to test01 via your #11 guide and there's no terrain. The ADTs exist and everything, I can see the squares show up and I can move on the ADT but I don't see any terrain. Is it something I did wrong?

Also, I'm using 335a WOTLK.

Noggit / [QUESTION] Custom Continents without YiasContinentCreator?
« on: September 04, 2014, 09:01:37 am »
I've recently started to try to get back into Noggit (it's been a good 2-3 years) but my computer & brain has changed quite a bit. I'm still having to relearn a lot of things, and one of the things that has slipped my mind is continent creation.

I tried Yias Continent Creator, but it doesn't seem to work anymore. Gave the error that it couldn't find a path, so I did as was suggested and made a .reg and ran it, now it just crashes straight up.

Are there any other programs that I can use for continent creation, as well as perhaps a guide to refresh my brain? I've been getting used to Noggit all day, and continents seem to be my only problem. Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much man, I'll try that.

Edit: It worked, WoW no longer crashes when I open it. My brain can finally rest, thanks a bunch.

I know this has been asked a lot, but I'm getting frustrated now as to why I can't get to this to work.

So basically, I'm testing out creating a new "continent" in a patch, which requires editing the 'map.dbc' file. I added in a new row in the .dbc for my continent, and put it into a patch. It's in the right place and everything, and when I run WoW, it gives me a "Version Mismatch" error.

I think I'm missing something. What I'm doing is, extracting the map.dbc from the locale-enUS.MPQ, opening it up in Taliis, cloning & renaming the Kalimdor row, inserting the new map.dbc into my Patch-N.MPQ (which also contains my ADT & WDT terrain files) and then placing Patch-N.MPQ into my Data folder.

I don't know why, but I'm just not seeing the logic as to why in the world it gives me a Version Mismatch error after I think I'm doing it all right...

Here's a quote from the post I read. I'm having trouble understanding it completely...

4. It is possible that more then one version of a file exists in the WoW MPQs. They can also have different versions. So if you extract the wrong file, it can crash your patch. To avoid this, extract the MPQs all into one folder on your HD in the following order and overwrite existing files.

From the WoW/data folder
- common.MPQ
- common-2.MPQ
- expansion.MPQ
- lichking.MPQ
- patch.MPQ
- patch-2.MPQ
- patch-3.MPQ

From your localisation folder (data/enUS for US clinet)
- locale-enUS.MPQ
- expansion-locale-enUS.MPQ
- lichking-locale-enUS.MPQ
- patch-enUS.MPQ
- patch-enUS-2.MPQ
- patch-enUS-3.MPQ

Any ideas? Sorry if this has been brought up many times before, but I really don't know what else I can do. Also, just in case, here's the full error right here that occurs as soon as I launch WoW.

ERROR #121 (0x85100079) Version Mismatch
Program: "my wow.exe"

DBFilesClientMap.dbc has the wrong number of columns (found 126, expected 66)

I also just had a thought. Would I even be able to travel to the continent, if this is only done client-side? Or does work need to be done server-side too?

I have read over the tutorial a billion times, but "finding all the texture stuff and setting the version flags" makes no sense to me.

At least I learned a little bit about hex-editing.

Hmm, I actually can't even get it to start, it says ''msvcp100d.dll'' is missing, though I've got VCredist installed :(.

I'm having the same problem. I have VCredist installed as well but it's not opening for me, keeps giving me the same error message.

EDIT:

Easy fix is you download the two .dlls from http://www.dll-files.com

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcr100d
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msvcp100d

Put those in your Noggit folder and try to run Noggit if you were having the same problem I was.
