I also tried .mod mana, which didnt work either.
Maybe something up with your Cataclysm Emulator?  because .mod mana works fine for me on my 406

Random / Re: Is there a lack of content in WoW ?
« on: July 01, 2015, 08:19:37 pm »
Wrong Parent Thread, this should go in the General > Random Section, not Modding > Misc lol. It's about Wow sure, but nothing related to community modding.

Something I've noticed people do whenever they talk about lack of content in Wow is they seem to always misjudge the size of the Wow Development Team.... it's really not that large. Sure the maximum amount of people that could be working on Wow is rather large however the size that's actually working on it consistently isn't that large.

With deadlines and people constantly being moved onto other projects from time to time doesn't help it but it's a business and decisions need to be made. Wow isn't their only baby and who's to say they don't have other projects underwraps that we don't even know about yet?

I gotta side with Kaev, Ascathos, and Schlumpf on this one.  What happens on Ac-Web is that community's issues. Some of us may frequent the other forums but most of us are dedicated to this one so unless there's something going on here, it's doubtful anyone would care otherwise.

I find it funny you guys are retro porting so much, why don't you just play the version those assets are on?.
It really depends on the end user's reasons, if they are using LK because of the reasons listed above because they complain that there aren't any tools available to do what they want to do. then yeah that's pretty hilarious.

But if said end user is merely using it as a visual sandbox to view custom content and don't actually "play" anything, that statement is void of any reasoning on those individuals.  I know many that merely use LK or Cataclysm as a way to please their visual desires and are fine with that.

As for myself, I don't play anything anymore, I merely use the game, whether it'd be BC, LK, Cata, MoP, WoD, I just use them merely as a visual sandbox.

Quote from: "Chase"
but that's the whole point in modding, feeling accomplished when you achieve what you believed was impossible.
This is true, but the same goes for any expansion, some people still do things for LK/TBC/Vanilla simply because it's either things that weren't explored before in those expansions or simply things that others may have said it may not be feasibly possible to achieve.  And others, simply for self experimentation for R&D purposes.

Not that it makes any difference, but I'd be spending a lot of my spare time making user-friendly tools if I could find a clear path to follow with regards to learning how to parse and write binary files programmatically. I make a living doing software development in a C-like language, so it's not a problem of being unable to program.
Who's that reply to? There's only been 2 posts since your last reply and none of them talk about that.

Quote from: "iindigo"
The only problem is lack of knowledge in one particular type of programming.
I wouldn't say that's the only problem in terms of regards to all the people interested in Modding Cataclysm, another is those that are actually interested in the topic either don't have the free time to spare spending time on the idea or ............

Those who won't make the effort to put in the time to making their dreams a reality, which usually follows with them complaining that others(such as yourself, sclumpf, mjollna, stoneharry, and all other legends) won't make better or newer tools.  Then they start to wine about how people that know how to do it won't make stuff, but that's not a logical argument at all since what benefit is it to them if they did do it anyway? If They(the smart people) have no interest in it then that's perfectly fine, leechers trying to make it a reason and to be negative about their standing on the topic doesn't help anyone.

Tutorials / Re: How To Make Unlisted/Secure MPQ for Cataclysm and MoP

I was never told that the tool no longer works, thus assumed it did. I would not suggest everyone to download and fix it, but suggest that instead of making a seven minute video, one should just fix it once, which probably is a few minute job.

I don't remember putting up any license stuff, so that's probably a leftover from stormlib itself. Nevertheless that clause likely does not apply for distributing a patched version in source and precompiled binary form.

Thus, I stand by my first reply: one should not do stuff manually if there is a tool available, even if it requires a few minutes of fixing, seeing that editing a video probably takes longer.
Point taken.

It uses stormlib, so just taking the source, slapping a current version of stormlib over it and recompiling should fix that.
So um, you gonna retract your previous statement now? since you said all I had to do was use FuckItUp, now I have to update and recompile something?..... Uh....smh.  point being is that your original reply isn't true since there's more to it than just what you suggested, not to mention it sounds like you are saying it's something you just download and run.

This is a general idea for people that don't know how to compile stuff also without having to explain how to download stuff to compile and what changes must be done to do the things you suggest.  And your source literally says not to re-distribute the compiled file..... uh.... yeah.

Because it's easier to complain about lack of tools and content than it is to make stuff which requires time, effort, determination, and more time to study and do R&D work. So naturally people take the easier route out and nothing gets done.

Like there is seriously no need for this thread. Unless you're trying to complain or just wade in the waters of time while you wait for someone to take the helm for you, so to speak. ... Just saying.

Uh, there is a tool called FuckItUp somewhere in this forum which does that stuff with one click.
Hey there master, um, no.  Wow kicks back an error so hard your kidney will blow out your back. Fuckitup doesn't do it correctly since for this to work in Cata/MoP, the MPQ's hash size needs to be a different size, no idea why, something in Wow versions higher than 4.1.0.  Give it a shot yourself and you'll see what I mean.

Fuckitup won't read Custom MPQ files with header sizes that aren't 32 bytes large. And in my tests, Wow 4.2.0+ didn't read Un-Listed MPQ files that didn't have a header size of 0xD0 / 208 bytes large.

If you feel I am just making stuff up, I'd be more than happy to make a reply video for you if you'd actually view it showing me making an MPQ for MoP using the standard methods and also using FuckItUp, whilst giving the Error.

Okay so it's not really a way to secure an MPQ file but it's what people seem to call it, another word people use is Encrypting an MPQ, which it isn't either. We're just making an MPQ File that has no listfile on it to show other humans what is inside of the MPQ File.

This doesn't mean that it's not possible for people to still get the file/folder naming and structures of the contents inside, it just makes it a little more interesting for anyone who wants to try to "list" the MPQ file.

Shout outs to Soldan and PhantomX for their assistance with teaching me this, a lot better than my method that works solely for 4.0.3 - 4.0.6a.

It would be lovely if you could do tutorial on portals. :D

Minimaps are not important right now therefore there is no reason to waste time looking into it. The reason why I copied blizzard's portal for now, it's the same reason why I can't take time to learn blender properly right now, because I can't afford to sit down and study it while doing nothing. If I sit down and study it, work does not get done, no work means other problems will arise because of it.

when you set youre group as indoor and didn't set batches as indoor then you group will be visible from outside even without portals. But if you set youre group as indoors and set batches as indoors too then from outdoors you group will be invisible from outdoor until you get into this group..
I'm not sure what you mean by this, if you are referring to how I take out the outdoor flag on 0x1C, I do that to avoid mixing environmental lighting with indoor lighting, doing the mix yields a very bright surface that I do not like because it also mixes the over world environment lighting color.

If you are referring to MOBA stacks, I haven't looked into what is in there yet. I do Wow stuff maybe one day a week now for the last few months.  I still talk to people but I do not do any study because of jobs that must be completed for deadline. Is very stressful sometime hehehe.  I wish I had more time to do this stuff like I used to. For today I'm just trying to push out vlogs and tutorials of things, and maybe next week I will be able to study again. :D
