When you figure it out and you get bored... trust me, you will get bored... you'll probably do like what all of us have done and add really crazy sound effects for the steps like explosions or Pained "OUCH!!" and "OWW!!" sounds lol....Too bad we can't have very many sounds otherwise it would be pretty funny to add Drum sounds to the steps XDD

I about cried when I clicked the links and figured out what I am going to have to do to get the sounds correctly downported...... that.... is.... WEEKS..... worth of work  ./bangs head on a wall :(

"Retro-Porting" / [Question] Downporting Sound?
« on: May 01, 2015, 12:29:34 pm »
Thanks to Phils downporter Scripts for .WMO and .M2 files I have downported all the current .WMO and .M2 files to wotlk. (SERIOUSLY, THANK YOU =D).

Now I need to figure out how to downport the sound effects for when your running over certain textures and the music and what not.

Right now with the new tilesets and such there isn't any sound, just dirt :(. Like if you are running over a grass texture or if you are running over wood and metal it plays the same sound. Say your running over a dock and want the wood sound that would be associated with it, I don't know how to downport that stuff.

Anybody know how to do this =)?

The song is coming along nicely (woot to ram lol), here is a 40 sec clip of a song that is actually nearing completion (will be the first one to actually get finished since I started on this crusade, I will post it here first for people to download once it is done if they would like to.)

http://freemp3hosting.com/R8W

Let me know what you all think so far, I am very interested in feedback =D

19
Heheheheeee... I'm back again :P. Just got some new toys and also upgraded my ram and made this.

Klarasha is a few different genres combined, was trying to go for that badass kinda feel to it while later in the song will also have an ethnic vibe to it as well. For right now it is Orchestral/Industrial combined.

Since I upgraded my ram I wanted to know what my limits were again, and I have to be honest, I have yet to find it lol.

Anyway, hope it gets you pumped up and look forward to reading what you think. (is not a full song, just a test)

http://freemp3hosting.com/RC8

enjoy

EDIT: I was also teaching myself how the automation works in FL Studio with this one, and man, I have to say... it can be a very powerful thing.

Phil, you ... are.... AWESOME!!! Thank You so much for these videos, I have been trying to figure out how to downgrade .wmo files for a long while now. I know all the information is on the forum but it was so scattered I couldn't really figure out what needed to be done. Awesome, just... Awesome, thanks =D

I made a wheel in Cinema 4D, here are some images of it:

Base template made with Circle and Line Splines:

After about 20 minutes, here's the wheel made from the template:

Rendered with an old model that I never finished, made it in 2006 give or take.

Raytraced/GI:

Clay/Matte:

I kind of want to make a Mustang for these wheels, but I think an import may look better with the shape of these wheels, what do you guys think?

This one gets a little more intense with the boundaries I have to push my computer loading up all the instruments. I actually had to bridge the 1st and 2nd Violins, along with the Cellos just to give my computer enough ram to be able to export this as an mp3 (didn't realize it was hogging up that many resources lol). Either way I am enjoying doing this and I hope you do as well :).

That is Nic....err.... EPIC!, sure it damn near blew out my eardrums at the start, didn't realize my volume was pushing near max.... damn you spotify and your quiet playback volume!! grrr.. anyway it sounds epic as usual, how much RAM are you running with anyway if you don't mind me asking.

Thats is pretty cool looking, I could never design a car in Cinema4D or any application at that lol, I have about 8gb of ram, gonna have to upgrade it as I can't load the other instruments up I need to finish the songs I am making without maxing the amount of RAM Out :(.

Everybody seems to be working on some pretty cool stuff =D, I like seeing the projects and such that people are working on, regardless if it has anything to do with wow or not.

Speaking of projects, someday I think (hope) I will actually finish one that I start, I tend to get side tracked with all the different Ideas I have floating around in my head and end up starting a bunch of different projects at one time. So I decided to share another one of my projects I am working on, this makes the third song project at this point that life will allow me time to play with =D

Well this is the Random thread, so here's something Random and probably an ear ache to many of you including myself lol.  But here's my failed attempt at trying to mix a Country Vocal track with an R&B Instrumental track.

[media:2oo6dylr]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me1xN-TmDUQ[/media:2oo6dylr]

They start to really de-sync at 30 seconds because of a tempo switch that I didn't care to correct, anyway don't kill me for hurting your ears XD.

Hehe thats rather interesting Phil =D, it really is alot harder than it looks though, one of those things that most people wouldn't know how complicated it can be till they try it :).

Speaking of I decided to turn the Ambient Overlay example in my post into a full song and working on that now. I need to know if there is to much boom from the percussion at about 57sec into the track. (keep in mind this isn't a complete version, just a sketch out of what I am wanting for that section, still working on it).

http://freemp3hosting.com/QBb

If anybody has a good system that can let me know if it is to much bass and distorting the rest of the instruments please let me know :).

SSSSSSOOOOOOooooo..... Many known people from this site are jumping in on this project =D, I am very glad to see it. Once this project is finished wow modding is gonna get a MAJOR kick in the rear I believe, and much needed..... rebirth is at hand :).

Keep up the good work all, can't wait to play around with this =D

Well, thats just great offer. I tryed to do Ambience by myself, but I had some problems with noise added between tracks by client and I didn't find out what was causing it. I have may own Music patch, but I want to see what you can do. Focus on Ambience, Music is not needed for me (at all), but I may use something even there. So...:

In general, my location is tropical/subtropical. My RP server is much more fantasy/magic based than political/medieval based. Locations are full of orcs under control of Legion (hostile faction), players fight for both Alliance and Horde. Horde is without blood elves (they don't exist yet in my lore) and without forsaken (the same). So Horde is only group of orcs (dominate part), tauren and trolls. Alliance is group of dwarves, gnomes, humans and high elves (in some locations high elves lead, in some humans). Most of music should be in fantasy/elven style, but a little bit more classic medieval fantasy will be just great for some locations too. Time for showoff, here are my environment types:

1. Exodus. Its rocky mountain with jungle and growing human settlement (don't be misled by dwarf models, mostly humans live there). Lead faction is Kul Tiras, but you may meet quite a lot of pirates and dwarves here, too. Weather is very warm and sometimes quite rainy.

3. Erutia (forests/meadows). Erutia is the biggest (warm, subtropical) island around and there are forests nearly everywhere. Its elven location (originaly) but it was invaded by Legion orcs. There will be more environments on Erutia, this is just for places where wild animals are mostly the biggest "problem" around.

Its up to you if you want to try to create ambience and music set for one or more of these environments :). I won't be angry if you won't do anything, its just that I am quite interrested what you can do, when you are giving such offer here.

That is really quite a bit of info, Thank You =D.

I should clarify of what it is I am wanting to make :).

If you look in the areatable.dbc you have 3 main sound sources.

1. SoundAmbience = Non musical stuff like, the sounds of a market or water from the ocean etc..
2. Zonemusic = This is what plays on top of the SoundAmbiance, gives the Ambiance quite a bit more depth and emotion as its the musical part.
3. zoneIntroMusic = Just how it sounds, its the entrance music you hear when you walk into a specific area which fades out into the zone music.

2 and 3 are the parts I am interested in doing :).

As for the non musical ambiance (1) there are so many sources where you can get this ( like http://www.freesound.org/browse/ for example). Short of doing live recordings myself, which I have no way of doing atm sadly :(, there is nothing I can do on that part without ripping off some other persons work as I would need recorded samples from another person to do this :(.

All the non musical Ambiance (like the birds chirping or the sound of wind) are all in .ogg format where the musical stuff (from what I am looking at) is in .mp3 (Not sure if that would make a difference on how Wows game engine plays the files). You could try fixing your custom ambient files (1) to have a fade in and out effect to keep the noise from between tracks.

Now if you are wanting a musical overlay (2) to go ontop of the non musical Ambiance, I would gladly do that :). As well as the Area Intro Music to match it. What you think?

EDIT: To further clarify, here is an example of an Ambient overlay http://freemp3hosting.com/Qwy

Miscellaneous / [Project] Custom Ambiances/Music For Your Zones/Instances
« on: February 07, 2015, 11:00:23 am »
Hello all you Modcraft addicts =D. I am gonna get straight to the point here, I am currently creating custom music for zones/instances and I am also wanting to create it for other people to use as well.
-------------------------
To give you an Idea of what I can do here is a link to a sample I made yesterday: http://freemp3hosting.com/Qvx
-------------------------

I am needing some people to give me some ideas of what it is they are wanting, so I can create it and upload it here. In order to do that, I need details from all of you =D, and I mean specifics, for example:

1. What type of zone is it (Tundra, Jungle, Desert, Forest, etc.. )
2. What type of feel do you want (Arabic, Nomadic, Elvish, Industrial, What ever you can use to describe)
3. Is it a Cave, Forest, Building (like an Inn which has it's own Ambiance/Music, or a place like the Ramparts or Blood Furncae)
4. Describe the Quest Line
5. Anything and everything you can put down to give me as much detail as you can so I can make the music match the area you are wanting it for :).
6. If you are able also Screenshots of what you are building would also help out alot as well.
7. Whats the weather like (windy, rain, is there sand blowing?)
8. Whats the skybox look like (evening, night, out of this world etc..)

You don't have to do ALL of that, mainly there just to get the point across of things I need to know so everything can mesh together properly :). So get to typin and let me know what it is you might be wanting =D. When I have something finished I will update the main post with a link for download and bump the thread to let people know or the specific person know :).

Also, once the music is created any feedback would be welcome, always like to know what people think of something you created :).

Really good job !

I was looking for a program to compose new music for Gnomeregan with bass clarinet like Derek Duke has made, but I'm not a musician or composer so I do not know where to start ^^"

Maybe you'll even get a Music Index opened on this forum

Good idea :D

(I think there was one in the old version of the forum)

Believe it or not the stuff I do, I do by ear, I have no clue how to read or write sheet music (I use to know how when I was younger, mother made me take piano lessons, kinda glad she did now lol.)

There are a couple things you need to be able to do what you are wanting, just to get an authentic sound it will be a little pricey.

1. FL Studio (This is a DAW "Digital Audio Work Station", that you use to make all your mixing/composing in.) There are many DAWS out there so if you want you can look around, but in general they all do the samething, they just go about it differently. The reason I choose FL Studio is it has FREE "LIFETIME" updates, if you have version 10 and they come out with a version 20 10 years later, you get it free from your one time purchase. The package I have cost me around $200 give or take.

2. VST Instrument, you need a program that can emulate each and every note and the different articulations of those notes into your DAW (FL Studio). This is where it gets VERY pricey, these can range from a few bucks to THOUSANDS of dollars to get depending on your choice. The Orchestral String Library you heard in my tracks in the earlier posts cost $800 give or take, but it also emulates EVERY SINGLE NOTE and also each and every articulation for each note from every string instrument you have in an Orchestra. Not to mention the different velocitys, this library takes 112gb of disk space on my computer and thats just the strings lol.

3. Time, it takes patience to do this, you will make something, finish it, not be happy with it, then go back and redo it, over and over and over again. I can't tell you how many times I listened to the 2 tracks above trying to figure out what it is I was gonna do, what needed to be tweaked, what could I change, what can I add to it, what sound would be good here etc... etc....

Hope this helps with what it is you are wanting to do :).

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The duration of it and just how it sounds would be perfect for trailers I reckon.  Very well done man, you've got a gift!  Anyone can get a library of awesome and epic sounds/samples/tools etc... however it takes a certain type of person to put all the chaos into something beautiful, and you sir totally have the attributes of being such an individual :)

----------------------

In other news.... I've been retroporting Draenor again.

[media:3g7212ev]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ-fF5MpQJs[/media:3g7212ev]

The chances of me sharing this openly/publicly is really slim, but who knows what the future holds. :)

Well thanks =D, never expected such praise to be honest lol, I appreciate it.

That is really cool, I have been stuck on retro porting for months now and I just can't seem to do it correctly (even with all the guides and tuts out there). Good job =D

I really like it too, Keep at it Kranimal! Don't stop even if your computer dies XD, You've got something great going on in that mind of yours!! Maybe you'll even get a Music Index opened on this forum to list your releases on instead of mixing it all up with the usual mod releases.

That said if that Maruum is still a thing, you could probably contribute music to it as well. :)

Thanks =D, glad you enjoyed it. Actually just got done doing another section of the song if you want to hear it, link is below =D

Showoff - what you are working on / Re: [SHOWOFF] What Are You Working On
« on: February 06, 2015, 11:09:25 am »
A few weeks ago I was messing around with wow modding, and I got to wanting to make my own zone music and ambiances. I already have FL Studio (bought a while back), but I didn't have a midi controller keyboard to use with it. I went to Amazon and bought a Alesis Q88 (88 key midi controller), and I just got it a few days ago.
I plugged it up and loaded up FL Studio and Kontakt, and went to town.

The kind of music I like to mess with is Cinematic/Film Music (Full Orchestras, Choirs, Big Booming Djembe and Taikos, that kind of stuff). I wanted to test the libraries I have for Kontakt and also how much my computer can handle before I went and started creating the projects for Wow.

So I decided to make a song (not thought out or anything, just a random song that test different stuff) that I just started this morning. Turns out it is starting to shape up like an actual song so I think I will keep going with it till it is finished.

Decided I wanted to share it with you all and give you an Idea of what it is I am talking about so here it is =D.

http://freemp3hosting.com/Qvt

I came to realize I suck at wow modding (even though that won't stop me) but wanted to contribute in some way to it. So I decided that I am going to make custom music for the zones and what not and ambiances for people to use in there projects to give it more of that custom vibe.

Anyway let me know of what you think, again that's just a test song I am working on and it is not finished.

Cheers

EDIT: I recommend using headphones or a speaker system that will let you hear everything as it should be, regular computer speakers won't let you hear everything as it should be :).
