[QUESTION] Finding a spell in WoD
« on: December 02, 2014, 11:36:54 pm »
Hello. I am trying to find this spell in the WoD files.
http://www.wowhead.com/item=119093#screenshots

I am not able to find it either in cascexplorer and I have no way to open db2's so i cannot manually search the paths. How exactly can I find it?

Anyone bother to help`?

The "encryption" is indices into filedata.dbc.

Too confusing for me lol. Kinda hate how they changed it :/

It kinda sucks how it's named something entirely different in the files than what it does in-game. Couldn't find it.

I think, the best thing to do is to convert DBC to SQL
Doing some shit in SQL and reverse it to Csv or DBC directly

By trying to find the spell do you mean the model that it's using (IE: the wings model)?

What part?  The spell uses like five different models between all its pre-casts, channel, buff, etc.  I presume you just want the wings model itself.

Yes only the wings. I'm planning on using it on older expansion to replace the old and boring paladin wings >.<

It's got me stumped.  I can pretty well trace it to find where the buff calls for the model, but I can't find where 145309 is translated into a model's location.  In MOP it was in the spellvisualeffectname; that DBC from my WOD client only has numbers and no text strings.  I checked the filedata.dbc and it's not a reference to there.

all the files are stored now in files.dbc from what i can remember. I'm at work wright now so can't check. I have already written this somewhere.

Edit: you can find the id of the files in the various dbc, then check with files.dbc to see the file patch. File ID's can be hexadecimal in other dbc but not in files.dbc.
