These new models are making me tired lol.
« on: October 16, 2014, 12:41:21 am »
For 2 days I've been trying to convert player models from WoD to MoP. I never succeed lol. What I'm doing is replacing the MoP textures with the new ones but problems arise such as no feets and green face.

Most of the times everything works but the face and feets which is completely green and feets which are invisible.

What Im editing is Charsection.dbc. Is there something I'm missing here? I'm porting these for a little project I'm working on.

Btw I am not a leecher. I'm legimately trying to learn a few things. Hope you guys understand, Thanks.

It's a pretty simple process just remove the broken geosets aka the ones not supported and then re-uv the model and textures and you're done same process for Wotlk there's really no difference.

Is there perhaps any tutorial on this? Anything similar that someone has done before?
I've looked but couldn't find any.

Just need to at least succeed with one so I can get a better understanding on how I can import the rest.

Not to my knowledge it's actually pretty simple I was pretty upset with myself when I didn't notice how simple it was but any who I might make tutorials for it but not any time soon.

I'll probably make the tutorials when I release the models.

D:

Okay I'll try to solve this myself.

At least tell me how I import the m2 model to blender. Since blender doesn't support m2 this is a problem for me.

Ugh...

Mod2 doesn't work. I tried 2 versions and either of them works.  Both giving me errors when I choose the m2.

Edit: nvm lol I won't continue with this....

wow dude, don't do this crappy method for mop !

uv mapping and blender part is only for cata and wotlk because some options are not included, like 1024x512 uv mapping and geoset limit

On mop you have just to :

Edit charsections.dbc
Rename files without _HD
Activate uv mapping 512x1024, like the pandaren

I thought I read somewhere that the UV mapping is supported. Thanks for clearing that out.

Acticating uv mapping is also done within the same DBC?  I guess this is what you mean considering you guys said I don't have to touch the m2 through blender?

Thanks again.

EDIT: I've looked and seemed to have found 2 additional DBC which handles the textures. Hopefully these are linked and I'll see if I can somehow solve every problem I've had.
If you want to help with this last bit then please go ahead because this is totally new for me lol.

EDIT2:

I found out how to enable the UVMapping. But now the character is green. It's like it doesn't recognize the textures.

Sooo My Tauren model shows only green texture apart from her hair.

What I've done is remove the old files and removed _HD at the end of the new ones. Feels like I've done something wrong here.....

This file shows the DBC's. I literally see nothing wrong here >.>

Edit: I just downloaded someones else female port to mop and the textures have a slight difference lol. Is this what is causing all this trouble? Seems like my textures doesn't even work.

sorry, i don't have doing anything since a lot of time in modding

I forgot something, Change the BLP Format

Wod Blp are in DXT1, we need everything in RAW1 no alpha (for skins, faces, body...) and Raw1 Alpha 8 bits for hairs, scallower facialhairs etc...

Thanks so much for the help btw!

EDIT: Trying Blpconverter.exe. I know the commands but how do I use em in a batch file lol? It always converts with alpha.
