Hey guys, gonna leave the WoW Scene forever. It was fun!!
« on: August 19, 2014, 05:29:05 pm »
Due to various complications in my activities, PayPal has ended up putting me into a debut of a minimum of $10,000 USD.  Due to their terms of usage that Nobody ever reads because the likely hood of something coming back and biting you in the ass is really slim to nonexistant.

Anyway due to me putting game hacks and wow mod downloads on my website, I recieved a backlash from PayPal with Limiting my account for 180 days for The Distributions of Game Hacks and Copyrighted Materials.  Copyrighted materials would be the WoD, MoP, Cataclysm content for WoTLK and other mods like those Cars I've been doing for Cataclysm/WoTLK, as the cars are not my own but rather came from either Need For Speed, Forza, or any other racing game that has their models extracted.

As many of you probably don't know, reverse engineering these files for their 3D data isn't allowed with most game developers, if you read through their terms, you'll eventually find it.  I know it's there for all Need For Speed games after 2006 and many others have followed suit.

Anyway the reason why this happened with PayPal is because I was using their system to accept donations on a website that provided questionable content as well as the possibility of making money from said activities and content.

So My Advice to anyone that is still reading this, I urge you all to stop using PayPal if you are in any way using it while performing activities where you share, sell, distribute information that is not 100% your own and or can harm another person(such as leeching people's unlisted patches and either sharing the listfile or the patch content).

Thankyou for your time, -A

PS, again the chances are low, but all it takes is one person to notify the right group and you'll be here as well.

Well, there should be a lot of people who appreciates your help.
It was long time ago, but I'm still one of them. Good luck to you and huge thanks for everything you did for modding.

Btw, most people here haven't got their own website or even youtube account, so probably you'll change your decision one day :)

Well, duh, paypal is evil. Everyone should have noticed by now. I did at least when they banned me for a charged-back credit card donation. Just don't use that thing, use normal bank transfers, done.

Wow, that's horrible news. Sorry to hear that happened to you... I'm sure we all appreciate your warning and I hope you figure something out! $10,000 is a pretty ugly fine.

Never ever use PayPal for anything. Neither as buyer nor as seller.

End of story !

You'll always be considered a good friend of mine, and well-respected. I won't be doing any selling of such, but I do plan to follow your example and make releases that shouldn't be kept in the dark by people who stubbornly refuse to release to the public. I imagine a bunch of twelve year olds on Modcraft sitting in skype groups sharing files that they just happened to study enough about over the very boring years of their childhood, and yet act pretentiously and show "teasers" of their work, blatantly refusing to help others. -- There's a large sect of bullshit that borders these types of communities, and Anthony sought to clear a little bit up. Whatever means are necessary! I am dedicated to releases, and you have taught me that, Anthony. There is no reason people should not be able to learn just because the people who know how to do something, don't feel it should be in the public, and refuse to teach. Not even guides!

Anthony, you did numerous guides, and contributed to so much in helping people learn, and I think more people need to take you as an example. Thank you for all you've applied to the WoW-Modding communities, and I hope your life takes a turn for the better after such a gross fine.

Umm I dont want to sound inflamatory lol but didnt you write somewhere that you wont give out code or something coz people ripped your models? Well it was you who was ripping Blizzard and those other games all this time so :b

But aside from that yea Paypal would probably be a pain in the ass, I imagine US and EU in general arent good places to run a private server and similar things, places like Russia would be best for this especialy at the moment with this cold war crap, US corp would have no power there.

@Grimvale

The information is out there, just because people who don't know modding wants to get everything by looking at a step by step tutorial on a video which they just mimic doesn't mean that the people who knows how to do it has not shared the information. You have to look further than "How to do X" and find threads related to that area or check out the documention on the dev wiki (Pxr.dk for those of you that don't know.)

Not wanting to spend time to make a tutorial so ANYONE can do it is not the same as not wanting to share the information needed to do it.

I've spent a fair sum of time doing all these things and in all fairness, people who have full time jobs and such and no time for learning the small, - generally irrelevant increments of modding, should be able to at least have a guide, which explains what purpose is for what, so that it's not just "DO this and DO that" -- make a guide that EXPLAINS the incremental details, searching scattered dis-organized sources of information is tedious and cannot be done with such little time. You don't have to merely be like "how to do X" you can be a teacher, and explain in DETAIL how to do "x" and WHY certain things are done, and for what purposes.

pretty much nobody is refusing to give information. information is pretty centralized at wowdev.wiki, asking for stuff will most of the time even get people to actively investigate your issue. This thread is so outdated that he even came back from leaving forever in the meantime. locked.
