Using WoD .m2 and .wmo in Noggit
« on: April 16, 2017, 09:33:21 pm »
Hello. I have read the "getting started", and I decided I wanted to make a new map. The process includes making the map in 3.3.5 Noggit and converting it to WoD. My problem is, that because Noggit is reading WotLK WoW, I am not able to use WoD models and stuff. So before I messed something up by just putting the WoD files inside the WotLK MPQs, I guessed it was a better idea to just ask here.
My question is: Would putting the .wmo files from WoD inside the WotLK MPQs be enough to be able to use them in Noggit? Even if they are without texture, just so that when I convert the map to WoD format it can read them properly.
Thanks in advance!

Well, either your Noggit will start crashing, or will not. Probably will. If you want to use Cata+ models in Noggit, you need to retro-port them to WotLK. Check retro-porting section for this. Adspartan has a nice convertor.

Anyway, don't put anything into original MPQs, if thats what you wanted to do. Just create a new patch, name it for example patch-4 or patch-w or whatever and add all stuff into it. If WMOs will crash Noggit, which is likely to happen, well, then you can't, not without using Adspartan's convertor on them.

Would retro-porting the models mantain them when I convert the WotLK map to WoD? That is the only thing I want.

They usually don't get really damaged or whatever similiar, although they can get. But that doesn't matter to you at all (as long as they don't cause Noggit to crash). You'll use retro-ported versions only in Noggit, only for placing them into map. After converting map to WoD and opening it in WoD client, you will still get the same, original, untouched WoD versions of those models. You are going to mod models only in Noggit's Data folder after all, not in your game client's data.
