I don't know if you still need this info but to map edit you will want to test your map edits on a server.
To do this you need a repack or a compiled core and a db.
a repack can be many different kinds of cores and db structures.
one of these cores is known as ascent or arcemu...which is now what ascent was, (as far as I know.)
if you want to just get a server up quickly and do not have much knowledge with emulators...
I would suggest using a repack... if you are planing on spawning objects in game. you will want arcemu.
but if you just want an easy quick setup, use mangos.
as for going to your db and editing what is needed...
you will need to do this only if it is arc emu as I am aware, but if you are using mangos just drag and drop the dbc into your dbc folder of your mangos core and It should register with your mpq that you have made for your adts and such...
sorry if this is not what you are looking for.
I can't help you in the way of noggit crashing.
I have not tested alot of noggit...
I have rewritten the public noggit3 to work on my comp...
If you have windows 7 and it is crashing loading the adt this could be why.
with permission from steff and other noggit devs. I will send you the noggit I am using if you are on
windows 7 64x
Also if you need further assistance with your understanding of cores and db editing, I will be glad to help you.
just shoot me a pm or add me on msn ...
Serifaz@gmail.comP.S. I would suggest if noggit will not load to use the continent creator and yias edit from cromon, until the new noggit is released.
this could be a temporary solution for the problem. just remember that the continent creator only supports 32 bit.
I hope this helped answer some questions if not just elaborate some on what it is you need
