I tried to open model in blender (took m2 helmet, converted to m2i with M2Mod), edited it, but it cannot convert back to m2 correctly. I read on this forum that M2Mod is for creature and character models. What i need to open item models and convert them correctly from m2 to m2i and back?

You should extract the models from Warlords of Draenor instead of Legion.
As I said before, during a stage of the Legion development they increased the Z axys of every helmet model. The WoD model should have the same position as in WotLK.



If the model was added in Legion, the only way to fix it is by using Blender.

I would be grateful if you will upload working blender and m2 / m2i plugins. I have working M2ModRedux, but none of all the downloaded blender versions i tried (2.49b, 2.62 and newest) could not import m2i model for some reasons. :(

You must edit the character model's attachments, not the helmet model.
The problem is that you are not providing much information. If you are using the classic character models, then you must edit the helmet in blender because the attachment position changed in WoD and they modified all the helmet models. If you are using the Hd character models (like the one shown by matem), you just need to edit the attachment point.

Well, i thought screens should show it all. Sry. I use old character models, so i need to edit exactly helmet.

Sorry, but I don't understand a single word of what you are saying. If editing the character model doesn't work, edit the helmet position in Blender instead. The solution is extremelly easy one way or another. Take care.

I cheked some guides, but my Blender with scrypts doesn't want to inport m2i models.

I mean i have not "struct Attachments" unit when i open helmet m2 and executing template. Sry for my bad english, btw.

By the way, I recommend you to check WoW Dev Wiki and Hiveworkshop tutorials. You need to know the basics of 3d modeling before moving to advanced stuff like manual retroporting.

I haven't these units. It's for character models? I do not need this. I have 264 units Vertices _Vertices. But it's diffivult to change every coordinates in every 164 units.

Have you cheked warglaive's model in 010 editor for example? Which textures model require? Mb problem at name of textures.

So, how can i do it? Which utilities i need? I hoped to convert model to mdx and edit it, but i didn't found any convertors existing.
Also this stuff - viewtopic.php?f=59&t=850 - doesn't want to set mountpoint for my helmet. Or, may be, i do something wrong. I need guide.
Nah just 010 editor m2 template and do what i said before

I can't understand, what exactly i need to change. Which unit i need to edit? I checked bones and keybonelookup, but it's alright there and there are no coords. Where are coords?

First of all , your displayID is probably made correctly (apart of fact that you have forgotten to add torsolower texture there). So, there are 2 possible reasons for your textures not working.

1. They are in incorrect paths (Item/TextureComponents/(componentname)/..)
2. The more likely one, you haven't converted them into format which is readable by WotLK as texture for texture component item. Convert those textures into PNG, use BLiPster for convert them back to BLP. Do not forget to check clothing texture option - those are clothing textures and need to be converted so.

In case you don't have BLiPster, here you are.:

Convert the files to PNG and try this in Photoshop:


Then save and convert back to BLP.
You can also convert a texture automatically from RGB to indexed color with blp converter using this command:
BLPConverter.exe /FBLP_PAL_A8

I already did this operation - PNG transfered to black BLP with white stripes. But now i used nor BLP2PNG, downloaded BLPConvertor. You know what?

Lets say you've got "Plate_DraenorCrafted_D_01_Sleeve_AU_F" in your DBC. In such case, WoW's looking actually for "Plate_DraenorCrafted_D_01_Sleeve_AU_F_F" or "Plate_DraenorCrafted_D_01_Sleeve_AU_F_U", to place those textures on your female character. Such textures, obviously, don't exist, and thus you get green error - meaning that texture was not found or could not be readen.

I typed it all correct, as you can see on screenshots, without gender markers.

All folders in patch just as they should be. Every texture is in folder belonging. So, what about "could not ve readen"? What can cause that and how to fix it?

Well, it is exists. As you see on screenshot, all strings in DBC are correct and match names of textures. This explode my head.

Modelling and Animation / [SOLVED] [WotLk] Problem with WoD armor textures

Good day. Faced with the following problem - when imported new textures of amor, taken from CASC-arhive, and DBC, armor displays are not displayed correctly. I explain what I did for easier understanding the problem. (And sry for my bad english, i am ashamed cause of it)

1. New records have been added to ItemDisplayInfo.dbc with names of textures. Then, copying the thing I took as sample (chest armor), have been replaced hand textures (upper and lower) and torso. Dbc packed to the archive with the name patch-ruRU-N and sent to the appropriate client folder.





2. Textures extracted from CASC-archive. Texture names match scored in dbc.



3. The item with the new screen is added to the database

4. Item in the client appears as follows



What's wrong with texture? What i need to do with it? Cataclysm texture works well - i did same operations with it, and item displayed in-game well. Which work i need to do with WoD texture?
