I meant that the design of mc.net is kind of more friendly than modcraft. Generally the "forum-only" websites often feel like a closed unwelcoming community. I mean, you open the website and the first thing you see is people talking to each other about something you don't understand at all. No greeting posts, no proper explanations what the website is about.

in basic I understand your point. But this is a problem because people dont know anymore how boards work. There are globaal posts and stickys that every member should read first to get into the board. And I see it often that younger people dont do this anymore. So the text is there but people dont read it.

I also think about this problem. For me a portal is not the best way doing this. Because if you use the board then day by day a portal is most time information you dont need. I will try to implement a usefull portal in the future but to bring in new members I think about a first login PM where we can send some words to new members.

You realy dont read the stuff I post. The hoster has forbidden to use such scripts. Fixing was not the issue.
Only the move to another root will change this.

The new site is better in any way, you can just deny it but it is the truth, period.

It splits the community when things are presented that way. It kind of sounds like "their website is better than yours", turning it into a personal confrontation. The approach should be "which website is more useful for the modding community in both short and long terms?"

Guys I can't care less why is MC-Net here, how just its creation is or is not and I also don't care which is better for what reasons. First 2 things can't be really resolved, the last thing is something what everyone should find out on his own.

What I DO care about is that don't like that my post was deleted because it was payed job offer and because it was a paragraph of text with link to the rest of the post on MC-Net. I wanted to place that post here because I wanted to spread a word about my offer to both sites, and because I wanted to discuss it with both parts of community, and also wanted to give/sell my old and future maps to both communities. Steff deleted it for 2 reasons:

- Modcraft is no fucking link board, apparently it can't "suffer" being just "a secondary one" when main post is on MC-Net.
- Steff deletes pay job offer because he personaly doesn't think WoW modding and real money should be connected.

I highly disagree with actually both reasons given to me and don't think my post should have been deleted, or any similiar post. Petty flames about reasons were already here and don't lead anywhere. And, once again, I don't even care about them. I do care about deleting topic such as mine. Because it undermines both amount of content here and attention my offer gets - in the end BOTH sides just suffer. And I would rather not mention how spineless actually both "reasons" are because there were lots of more or less similiar topics which were never deleted or marked by Steff as something "he doesn't like". Double standarts - yes, they are present here all too much at the moment.

While its more than OK to share this opinion, its utterly stupid to force community to follow it by filtering posts.

EDIT: Btw, I would earn 3 times more by doing classic part time job for same amount of time. My work is still very cheap from this point of view I still do it mainly because I like it and its my hobby, but I need some money and want to rather do modding for terrible but at elast some money, than to do things like work in factory or sell stupid ice-cream.

All the things you mentioned here like: No one has ever offered help or the necessity of changing the host. I personally offered help many times, I talked about stuff happening here in the Shoutbox thread, created new threads. In each of them I offered ways to do things, all were rejected. I once even asked for a moderator (long long ago) and I was given an answer like there is no need in one. As schlumpf said, Steff, you finally need to start accepting help. Well, kinda, I cared about it before but I don't now.

Secondly, I remember Hanfer and Cromon offering their servers as hosts, I remember Stoneharry (maybe someone else, don't remember exactly) starting a topic about running a kind of donation company, so we can pay for the host. No one gave a shit about that and let the community dying. I don't know what else but a new community by interested people could one expect to appear.

I've got to sign under this, because I remember those things all too well, too. Especially stoneharry's attempt. it was left as something what is useless and not needed.

You dont get it. We still have a root. Many month we could move. I have no time to do it and no one other where there to do it. Cromon hosts the community and also spend the modcract.io domain. It is just move the system to the new windows root. I also did a test installation but it did not run right.

Running a wow pserver is illegal here in germany becaus of the database you use. Taking money for the access makes in not better and IF i dont take money for access how can i spend then monery?

Then if no one has time to handle Modcraft why not pass it to some active volunteers ? A fear that it may go wrong ? Or do you hope to find time again later ? It is no problem nor shame to be in a life phase where you do not have free time anymore for a project, it happens to everybody. But you then always have two choices : give up the project or find someone else to keep the burden.
