[SOLVED] Problem with a custom Map
« on: January 03, 2012, 12:16:55 pm »
Deutsch:

Guten Tag liebe Com.

Here is the donwloadlink for the Patch: https://rapidshare.com/files/1872565928/patch-deDE-4.MPQ

At the tutorial of Elup I can select areas with Noggit but the new map is missing in Noggit. Screen: http://pic.leech.it/pic.php?id=7eec17deunbenannt.jpg

There are no other custom patches which can block the new one.

Hello making the assumption you have created your custom adts and wdt please check that their names are identical in the sense that if you named your zone 'testzone' that the the adts are named 'testzone_01_01.adt' and your wtd is named 'testzone.wtd'.

Next please check that you have correctly placed your DBC files in a folder called "DBFilesclient" with your Map.dbc (and your AreaTable.dbc if you have it) and placed in the directory of your Wow Folder.

Finally in regards to your adts and wtds these need to be created into an MPQ (not mpq) Patch and placed in your Data folder which is found in the wow directory.

To patch this correctly I would suggest you create a file on your desktop called 'patch', then create a file within that called 'World' then create a file in that called 'maps" then create another file in there of the name of your custom zone (Referring to my example - I would call this file 'testzone'). The wtd and adts are then placed into this folder and you open up MPQ Editor.

Then click Operations>Build MPQ from Directory then you simply select the newly created file on your desktop called 'patch'. Then name it 'patch-4.MPQ' and place this patch into your data folder like I said previously.

Hope this helps! :)

You just did everything wrong.

The first one has folders, but only the dbc.
The second one has all files, but no folders.

Okay thank you.
I will try it again.

EDIT:

I think I´m to stupid for this xD
I´ve try again but I have the same Problem.

I created the wdt. and ad. file and saved them

Then I edit the adt. file with ADT adder

Then I fixed the new adt files

After that I extract the Map.dbc

I edit the Map.dbc

I create the new patch

I copy the new patch in my wow/data folder

I create the two new folders "DBFilesclient" and "World" and copy the dbc. adt. and wdt. files

And when I open Noggit I still the same problem

Patch-4.MPQ: https://rapidshare.com/files/95661343/patch-4.MPQ

Hello,

Sorry I've mislead you a little by mistake :P

I've altered your patch-4.MPQ slightly and your world>maps. I've uploaded them  both for you to download.

Place patch-4.MPQ inside your data folder and the world>maps folder in your world of warcraft directory. Hope this helps.

Thanks

But I have still the same problem.

Was it a mistake that you deleted the dbc and adt files of the MPQ patch or have it to be like this

Maby someone can help me via Ts or Team Viewer

If I create 2 patches like this Noggit crashes every time I open it.

patch-4.MPQ: The wdt and adt files
patch-patch-deDE-4.MPQ: The dbc files

patch-patch-deDE-4.MPQ ?

only

patch-deDE-4.MPQ

And you should use in noggit direct the files and test you patch in a copy of your wow. Read the basics in the misc tutorial section.

I think I know the problem

I testet the custom map from you Steff and it works ingame but I cant select the map in Noggit.

That means that the patches are okay but my noggit dont works right.

I use Noggit Rev 104

Yes as posted her many times. Rev 104 don´t read WDT from disc. So just pack your WDT into q MPQ and put it into your noggit source wows data folder. Only the WDT!
Or join the beta group.

You shouldn't have any custom patches in the client that noggit loads. Only two folders called DBFilesClient and World (directly in the root of your wow folder). They should contain the files for your content. It's always a good idea to have two clients, one for noggit and wmv the other for testing patches.

I also had this problem when creating adts and wdts from scratch with taliis. Noggit returned an error telling me that there was no wdt for the adts. I just use ContinentCreator for this, but the tool creates buged wdts, so I make the wdt with taliis and adts with ContinentCreator. Idk what the problem is with taliis, but I found a workaround and couldn't care less.

I will never understand, why people would like to have two clients.

So I can use noggit and test my patch the same time. Also you avoid version confilicts of extracted files and custom MPQS. And some changes noggit dont like :) My patch crash noggit.
Also i use the test client to get on other servers and have a look ath others work. So its better to have a clean one for testing.
