Miscellaneous / [QUESTION] OverWatch?
« on: November 20, 2015, 09:20:51 pm »
Wasn't sure where to put this but, seemed like it'd fit here alright.

Is there any interest out there for cracking open OW? Uses casc like the rest of Blizz's games. Been looking around for a listfile but to no avail. I'm sure support will increase as more people are invited to the beta and more clients are in peoples hands (or on their machines, w/e).

... Any news?

Level Design / [QUESTION:WotlK] Cata to LK ADT: Baked .m2's Buggy Pop-In
« on: November 08, 2015, 01:39:42 am »
Tried just about everything, so as a last resort I've elected to consult the almighty Modcraft.

I'm working with an MoP/Cata content to LK patch done by someone(s) else. I forget the original patch creator so do forgive me! Anyway, on to the issues.

I plan to use the phased map of Gilneas for a little project I'm working on but when I isolate the maps, adt's, dbc's, objects and textures (as to make a smaller patch for friends to download and aid me in testing, since the original patch is ~10gb) into my own patch, everything seems to work just fine except for a select few .adt's. The baked doodadsets within these certain adt's seem to have this weird pop-in issue that also seems to be somehow connected to the player camera, as when I move the camera about the m2's rapidly blink in and out of existence. They also do not seem to appear until you are within 50-100 or so yards, and even then, they begin to do the buggy spazzing I explained previously. This bug does not occur when I load the original patch.

So my question is: Am I missing something? Is there something other than the DBCs, Map/minimap textures, ADTs, WMOs and M2s (and their respective textures) that I need to extract as well?

Things I've Tried: (None of which have worked.)
- Changing MPQEditor Versions (to check if anything was being damaged upon extraction/compilation)
- Making sure I have all the complete DBCs, objects and maps.
- Changing view distance in database worldtable.
- Extracting and converting my own ADTs from Cata/MoP/WoD installs respectively.

I've got to be missing something. >.<

Modelling and Animation / Re: [QUESTION:Wod] Custom Models into WoD
« on: September 18, 2015, 01:09:10 am »
You're my savior!

All is well now. I should've known to mess with those, I'm such a derp. I remember having to do so a while back when I was messing with 4.3.4 stuff. <.>

Issue is shadows now, but, thanks to Phillip I'm all set! c:

Modelling and Animation / [SOLVED] Custom Models into WoD
« on: September 11, 2015, 04:38:42 am »
I was hoping I would have figured it out by now and not have to make a post, but everything I've tried doesn't seem to work. Granted, I'm not too well versed with hex editing but I tried, explored things, watched videos and tutorials... To no avail.

I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who could help me out with getting custom made models into the correct m2 format for WoD. I can convert all my stuff from .obj/.3ds to .m2, but they only seem to work in 4.0.6-.

I am offering 12 internetz to any who can help. ;~;

I've tried all of this, everything. Q.Q

Still doesn't seem to work. I've tried converting/editing the exported obj's from model viewer, tried converting extracted m2's to m2i, then save as obj, then convert obj to m2. None of it works. I even tried editing the obj file in txt before converting, as I saw you say in another thread.

I've tried converting unedited obj's, m2's and m2i's. Model never displays ingame or when I convert the converted m2 back to m2i or obj, the mesh is gone and the file is corrupted in blender. Perhaps the scripts I have activated for char model editing are conflicting? Or maybe my Blender is just being dumb?

EDIT:

Thanks to PhillipTNG for personally helping me out with the issue, and to Alastor and others for their previous info that I've sifted through and consumed. I should've mentioned I was attempting to get the model to work in MoP/WoD. I was wondering why nothing was working, since I was doing all the steps correctly, but then realized I was using 335 tools. >.<

knife_1h_garrison_a_01.m2

I also tried a few others, can't remember as they were just to test if things were working. I tried some from MoP, Cata, WotLK and Vanilla. All the same result.

I had a feeling M2Mod wasn't intended for static m2's, but I know little about all this unfortunately. ;~; I did try and export as obj and use the tools provided by the site, it just corrupted the file each and every time. The mesh appears to get deleted. I guess it could be an issue with the initial conversion? However, the converted m2i's load just fine into Blender and export fine as well.

Modelling and Animation / [SOLVED] Weapon Model Conversion Issues
« on: July 10, 2015, 07:06:09 am »
I've been messing around with Blender and M2Mod4, I'm able to convert and edit character models with relative ease. Everything is working on that front, but when I tried to tinker with a few weapon models, there seems to be an issue.

> Convert m2 + skin to m2i
> Import into Blender, loads fine, everything's there.
> Edit & Export to m2i
> Try to convert m2i back to m2 and get this error: error: failed to save M2, unspecified error.

I've tried modifying the rotation and I've also tried making no edits--simply converting to m2i and back to m2. Same error. I also tried M2Mod3 and also saving as obj, then converting to mdx and then finally to m2... to no avail. Is M2Mod even intended for weapon models or is there just something I'm missing? >.< I couldn't find any info on this after a quick look at the forums so that's why I elected to post. If there's a tutorial or the same question somewhere that's solved, I'd appreciate a link! c:

Thanks in advaaance.

Ugh, figures. Thank you! It's working now, but I still have issues with the models themselves. >.<

Modelling and Animation / [QUESTION] New Models Issue
« on: October 08, 2014, 04:13:16 pm »
I know there are numerous threads, none of which really provide conclusive answers (and none of which I feel like resurrecting via necropost). I've been able to get some working for xpac 4, but it seems the client doesn't like that extra .skin.

Another issue I'm having is with CASCExplorer. I keep getting the following error:

Error initializing required data files:
Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed.

I researched the error itself and numerous sites state to reinstall NET framework, which I've done and to no avail. Dx

If anyone's willing to help me out I'd greatly appreciate it! ^.^
