Question - ADT list?
« on: January 07, 2011, 12:19:49 pm »
Hello everyone, im starting in world editing in wow, or at least trying.....

after reading the tutorials, my main interest is editing the existing wow maps, not creating new continents.....soooo...how do i know which ADT number is stormwind, or ironforge, booty bay?

Thank you.

edit: found in mmowned that you can extract minimaps and see the number trough them.....will check to see if its right.

That would be a kinda complicated way of doing this^^
I'd rather advise you to try noggit.  You can easily fly to the seeked destination and read out the adt name in under one minute.

hmm will check it later with noggit to see the easier one,

also, whats the best way to work with wow data files? extrac everything to a folder and work with them or change them "on the fly" with noggit and yias?
Thanks !!

edit: seeing that with noggit, i can hover on the adt i want and save , so it creates an adt file outside the mpq????

Yes, noggit saves the ADT outside of the MPQ the original is in, so it doesn't get implemented when you save it, for whenever your world build/edit isn't done yet, and most likely to prevent corruption of the file aswell.

Edit: And as .ADTs always get overruled by newer ones, you never have to overwrite the original.
