Problems with Worldediting (the map won't show up in Noggit)
« on: December 19, 2010, 08:45:45 pm »
Hi,

I got problems with worldediting. Noggit won't show my costum map in the menu. I did the tutorial five times and from the beginning and it haven't worked. I also tried to add a new race but that doesn't work neither. I am certain i do something wrong but I got no clue what.  Noggit works fine with the other maps, that already existed. I save the costum patches as patch-4.MPQ and patch-enGB-4.MPQ and organized them into world>maps>Test and DBFilesClient. I saved the Dbc file as Map.dbc. I uploaded the Wdt and Adt.  I also posted the files in my wow folder Wow>world>maps>test>test.wdt etc. and Wow>DBFilesClient>Map.dbc.

I use:

-Ladik's MPQ editor.
-Tallis
-Noggit 3 (rev 104)
- Adt Adder
-Windows XP
-Arcemu
- Patch 3.3.3

I think that's all, Please tell me if i missed something that I should have described.

You must have a wdt file for every map you load. And older version had an bug that it can load wdts only from patch. Jus put only the wdt files with the right path into a patch mpq and place it in your wow  data folder.

I did what you said. I made a new patch with world>maps>Test.wdt  tried it in several locations etc but it still won't show up. Eluo also posted a screen how to get there without Noggit and when I .worldport to the place wow crashes.

Error:
Code: [Select]
ERROR #134 (0x85100086) Fatal Condition
Program: C:Program FilesWoWWow.exe

CMap::SafeOpen() failed ÷“U

So it might not be a Noggit problem.

btw Thanks for your quick response.

worldmapsnameOfTheMapnameofthemap.wdt
In the same place as the adts.

But what do you want. Edit in noggit or go ingame to your map?
That are two things.
If you want to visit ingame you need also an entry in your MySQL DB and restart your privat server.

I did everything in the tutorial including MySQL Db editing etc. and restarted the server. I saved all files in a custom patch and placed in my data folder. I want to do both, I want to edit it in Noggit and after it I want to be able to visit it in Wow. When I got the time I will double check the MySQL database.

The .MPQ file:
patch-5.MPQ>world>maps>Test>Test.wdt and all .adt
patch-enGB-5.MPQ>DBFilesClient>Map.dbc

Hi!
Sorry for the late response :/
So your new instance won't show up in noggit?
The first thing to check for this problem is the map.dbc
It actually gets loaded but i can't tell you why your new entry won't show up... So either check the dbc again or upload it so that we can have a look at it.
Greetings

I am now at a friends house.  As  soon I get home i will upload it and check it agian. Better a late response then none :P.

Thanks for all your help
*edit*

As promised. Here is the Map.dbc. I uploaded my hole patch in a .zip file cause it won't let me upload .MPQ
and I checked MySQL database and i added a line in world_info.

The line in my patches is 725. the map id.

I guess this solved a part of the problem, it still won't show up as it should be. Btw is there also a map called testingzone cuz I tried to make that to but that doesn't work either.

Ok lets go on. I made a new map called Noggittest and did everything in Eluo's tutorial. I forgot to change the map id to 725 in Map.dbc in the new Noggittest map. Strangely the square I made showed up in noggit but I wasn't able to load the map. Then I found out the id was still 1 so i replaced it by 725. Then I replaced all map.dbc in wow folder, patches and in the server and checked mySQL. Then I started Noggit and my map was gone,, nothing in the menu about Noggittest. I think this makes the problem only more complicated? Why it does work by an existing map id (1) and why it doesn't work by a new map id (725)

Here are the 2 map.dbc

Map1 N+.dbc is the .dbc when Noggittest showed up in noggit
Map2 N-.dbc is the .dbc what it should be but doesn't worked

Hi!
That is strange. I am using noggit rev 104 too, i added both of the dbc files to wow to test it. And i was able to enter noggittest without any problems with both dbc files.
Normally wow files on harddrive > files in a mpq file
I can't tell if this is actually the reason but i recommend you to remove the mpq files(maybe the old dbc file is still in it? the log say that there are some paches in it...  but it actually overwrites it with the dbc from the hd), maybe that'll help?

I hate it when things don't work :p, I think everyone does.

But uhm I did some testing and when I remove all .MPQ nothing shows up in the menu. Does this means it didn't load the WoW/DBFilesClient and Wow/world/maps/etc. ? Cause I didn't delete them. Maybe this is the problem. Or do you have a link of another noggit version? I couldn't find the download of the latest one. I got all new Map.dbc and not old ones unless I forgot one place. Replaced it in Wow/DBFiles in patches and server Map, and also edited MySQL. Would it help to add my stuff to an Existing patch cuz they work?I will try that over later.
Do you have more suggestion about what I should try>?

For noggit view:

Put all adts  and the Map.dbc inside your WoW folder.
Delete all custom patches.
Create one with the wdt file in it because the old (104) version did not read the wdt from disc.

This will be fixed in next version.

Tip: If you have the palce on your HD make a copy of the wow folder and set this folder as WoW source in the noggit conf. So you can test your patches in the original folder and noggit has its own data source. So you must not delete the cutsom patches every time you use noggit.

Also you can add a spezial mqp.dbc with only your maps to the noggit version to shorten menus :)

If it will not work for you till weekend i can help you over teamviewer if you like.

Ok, I deleted all costum patches etc. Removed the wdt from wow/world/maps/noggittest. Made a new costum patch(6)  with only the wdt. And Noggittest Showed up in Noggit :D ! But when I click on the name it stops working immediatelly and I don't see the square I made. I also opend the Adts in tallis and looked by textures but this was empty. Shouldn't  stand here the path to elwynngrass.blp?

All advice and help is welcome but I have no idea how teamviewer works :P. Does it let you show my screens or something?

Here are all the files:
[attachment=0:4dqleiye]NoggitMap.rar[/attachment:4dqleiye]

BTW I will make a copy of my wow folder .

For that error when you click on the Instance name : Did you create the stuff with continent creator? If yes is the answer then you'll have to create a new wdt with taliis because the wdt created by that program is corrupted.

For the adt: Yes the path must be there ... Hum either you'll change that in every adt or you just create the whole bunch of adts again(wich shouldn't cost you more than 1min^^)
Greetings

I made everything in the same progs as described in your guide (tallis). So I think I will need to add this path to all adt's by hand ;P. It will keep me busy for a while and I need to fix MySQL . I think I destroyed it :|.

If I get Everything working I will edit my first post how to fix it.
