You dont use noggit3? Why?
« on: October 21, 2011, 02:53:14 pm »
I heard that some that could use it don't use noggit3 and I want to ask why and what they use instead?
Would be interesting to hear and perhaps bring noggit development into some new directions.

I post this here because some don't read the noggit board if the don't use the app :)

I use only Noggit 1.3:
It uses little memory
It is very stable and never corrupt ADT
New features in Noggit3 are of little interest to me
I am using Windows XP, and Noggit3 (new beta) I have worked very "crooked" (a lot of bugs):
regularly crash
Glitches with visibility
Improper display of shadows, etc. ..

I'm about 4-5 times trying to work with the new Noggit, but on all versions occur glitches , because of which the world building is truly difficult.
(I guess it is because old windows xp(2000))

I work with about Noggit 1.3 c 2008, and took possession of them to perfection.

Try the beta. You get there every version new bug. So you have more variety ;)

But its much stabler then 104.

Personally I don't understand how people would be able to live with 1,3. But that's just me :P
I just wouldn't be able to live without the importing of models, the texturing modes and such :P

Thanks

old noggit versions are really simple, but when u understand how to do all staff they are really nice.

I used to use 1.3/1.4 rev's from Beket. This versions requires smaller pc caracteristics. This do not bug water.

But u dont have 3d texturing and all the new tools. Every object HAVE TO be over its adt (noggit3 solves this problem automatically). And you need to use cryectstools or taliis to manage objects.

And at last, 2.x adt are compatible with 3.x; so..if someone thinks that he is more skilled in old noggit i do not see any problem to use it ;)

What do you mean 'no'? I've used 2.x.x ADTs on 3.3.5 Wows before, and that worked... :o
Compatible is not that its 100% alike the ones from 3.3.5. Its just that it can be loaded in the 3.3.5 wow. Might not be able to support a speciel kind of environment edit, but it is compatible nonetheless.

Thanks
Keta

The no was more meant on "no problems to use it."

1.3 noggit has the possiblity to fuck your adts pretty much up,what i experienced it multiple times myself.
This program costed me so much time and caused so much frustration that i definitly recommend not to use it.

But whoever uses it , takes that risk. So its their decision and their propably wasted time if they use it :D

I agree, I used to be a hardass and always used old versions, but 1.3 made lose so many ADTs of mine by corruption. I miss my new Lights Hope Chapel. :( I'm just waiting to get in Beta Noggit so I can continue working more often.

I used Noggit beta on my old computer and it worked really well (~1 crash per day). And it was actually better than Yias... ok it's the only other one i know. The import.txt is wonderful too.

But on my new computer I can't make it work, it shows an error like "lloolol could not launch 0xc000007b". Maybe because of this is a 64 bits Win7, i'll try to fix it later. Doesn't work neither on a virtualbox :'(

I'm also on Win7 64bit and I've got no problems Gam.

As for me... I've only used revs 104, 263 and 279.
I'm very happy with the 279, never crashes, bugs fixed from 263... Really it's great.

I develop on windows 7 64bit without any problems.

Just post your config file and your logfile in the noggit board. Until now i had no noggit installation that crash without a reason. It always on of 4 common problems. Wrong configuration, custom patch files in the noggit source wow. Wrong client as source. Extracted files in the noggit source wow.
