Has anyone done any spell/classmodding in wod? I was trying to add a spell to an existing class. Anyone know how to do it? Ina addition can anyone explain what a SpellClassSet is. It has to be something in that direction.

Maruum / [Developer Diary 1] What is Maruum

Hello Modcraft,

Welcome to our first Maruum developer diary. It is the first of a series of DDs we will provide to give you inside on the development of Maruum. Today I want to talk about what Maruum actually is. This topic will include some lore as well as gameplay info. It will give a short introduction into the world of Maruum. Be aware that all info given can be changed any time in the future.

The world of Maruum:


As some of you maybe recall we haven't changed the map. We decided that we liked the style of the old map so we kept it.



As you can see there are 7 different continents. Each of those have a unique lore and atmosphere. We decided to scrap most of the old maps done by several modders since those contained a lot of bugs or just didn't fit into the new style of Maruum.



At last I want to talk about our first continent that is currently being worked on. Anor is one of our Human themed continents. Its located in the north-east of Maruum and has a moderate climate. The kingdom of Anar is located on far parts of the continent. Although Anar is ruled by a king several noble houses fight for dominance within the kingdom. These houses have a deep rivalry splitting the kingdom in small factions. The player will be able to choose a faction to fight for. With support of this faction he will be guided through the first levels of the game.

That's it for today. Next DD will hopefully show the first ingame footage. We aim to show some screens of our first upcoming zone. So stay tuned for more info on Maruum.

Maruum / Maruum is back!

Hello Modcraft.
It's been a long time since anything has been heard from this project. We have gone a long way to reach this day.

Today I am proud to announce the rebirth of Maruum. I will start posting several topics on different stuff such as team members, concepts and other things.

So let's talk a bit about the project. Our main goal is to create a playable environment for all those who enjoyed playing World of Warcraft. It's not going to have fancy-fun-stuff such as Naruto or race cars. On the technical side of things, we will use a WoD-Server. It will be traditional in many ways compared to retail WoW. Not so much in a graphic or mechanic sense, but rather more in a way that we will not have stuff like LFR or similar casual content. This doesn't mean you have to be a hardcore player to play Maruum, this means the effort you put into the game will result in the stuff you achieve.

Our main focus will be PvE. Like in WoW, we aim to provide raids and dungeons. We will stick with the common group system with tanks, heals and dps. We aim for 10 , 20 and 25 man raids as well as 5 man dungeons. The 10, 20 and 25 man raids will be separate instances as they were back in TBC in order to make game-play more interesting. Besides that, we will provide PvP content such as arenas and battlegrounds.

The world of Maruum was completely designed by the team and has nothing in common with the World of Warcraft. Our Lore-Weavers will create a large background to ensure a living world. This leads me to my next point: Classes. We will have 4 classes at the start, however, this is subject to change as we will most likely add more classes in future updates.

The last thing for this post will be our plan for the future. We plan to release a series of Developer Diaries showing development.

Recruitment / [Maruum] Looking for Linux-Admin

Hello Modcraft,

Since the first start of the Maruum-project we had to take several decisions. Lastly resulting in a plan for a complete reboot. For this plan we need a couple new members on the team. Mainly we need a Linux-Admin now. We do not offer any payment. Maruum is a project made for the community for everyone to play. You will help bring new life into WoW-Modding and this forum. As a member of the team you are also involved in decisions regarding the project.

What will you do?
You will maintain the operating System (ubuntu) to work properly for our fresh WoD-Server.
Your main task will be installing and maintaining the server (trinity).
You might install additional software such as git.

What You need?
All needed are skills to fulfill the tasks listed above.
Decent social skills and a feel for Teamwork.

So are you motivated enough to head straight into the project then leave a post here.

Miscellaneous / CMD Error

Hello Modcraft,

After a wile of beein inactive I decided to resetup my modding stuff.
When I was using some of the general CMDStuff like offsetfix or fileinfo I just get a black CMD Screen. Nothing seems to be working and after a while I get the Error message shown. I translate it to english:

"The Application could not be run. (0xc000012d) Click Okay to close application."

Ill include a pic:



Btw same cmd stuff works perfectly fine on my laptop so no files not corrupt.
Task manager also tells me it uses a huge amount of my Ram...
Anyone know what this is? Really need these stuff :(

Miscellaneous / [4.3.4] Cata basic modding Questions

Hello all,

I compiled a fresh Cata core from trinity and ran into some modding issues.

First of all basi map editing: I converted some of my adts into Cata using Mjollna's converter. Here i got the first Question:

Does anyone knwo how those new adt stuff work? Like what is the _obj0 or _tex0 files used for and more important how do i pack a patch that ahs the highest priority in laoding?

I treid edding the old patches overwriting a existing adt in Kalimdor but it dint changed at all. At one point in my tries my client told me hes downloading new content :( with the ingame downlaoder.

Here we go with the next Question: Does anyone have experience with this downloader  and knows ho to prevent him from overwriting the edited adts?


If anyone managed to acually get a custom adt working in Cata client please let me know.

A class idea i was thinking of recently:

Short Overview:

Role: Damage/Heal
Resource: Crystals (see below)
Class conditions: Race = (still dont ahve the name for my race jet :D). Talent = mage

Mechanic:

Crystals: Crsytal is a aditional resource like the Soulestones of the Warlock. There are diffrent colours of crystals for diffrent spells. You need for example red crystals for damage spells, blue for suport ad green for healing etc. They can be obtaint by several sub spells or procs and are consumed on high end spells.

The basic concept is that the player needs to find teh balance in creating new resources of crystals and use them for maximum dps output or hps (healpersecond). He can combine 2 colors for advanced spells. Like a frostfire bolt using 3 red and 2 blue crsytals.

There will be at least 3 talant trees.

1. Summoning - Summon several minions to attack enemys
2. Casting - Cast crystal spells
3. Healing - alterate the inner powers of the Crystals to boost and heal your companions

The main graphic theme of the class are crsytals cuz of their specal meaning to my race. I post Lore soon™ so you can see.
