Someone else had this Dark Portal problem, maybe checking put what they did will solve your problem, at least for the Portal (modcraft.io/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8448&hilit=dark+portal)

Thank you -- I already looked at this thread and trying to follow its example didn't help. (EDIT: Actually, I fixed the Dark Portal .wmo by disabling the particles. This may work because I am using an updated client and I believe their Dark Portal .wmo was outdated.)

I can probably fix the error by removing all .m2 objects from the .wmo, which will be time consuming but I will look into it later. Thanks for trying!
