Can't see my custom maps ingame... :/
« on: November 16, 2014, 11:19:16 pm »
Hi,

I'm currently running a TrinityCore local server and modifying some maps a trifle using Noggit...
Point being that after putting the .adt's in a MPQ and placing it in the Data folder, nothing changes in-game....

So I figured it was maybe because I need to extract maps, vmaps and shit from the adt's?
Is that it? And how would I do that by the way? Because I tried using mapextractor.exe and so on but it doesn't work, nothing gets extracted from the adt... :/

Thank you in advance for your help and consideration.... :)

Are you trying to create a whole new map, or you just modify an existing blizzard ADT?
Because if you want to create a whole new map you need to create the DBC files for the client and the server.
Anyways I strongly recommend you to read the tutorial section that Steff wrote before you start making custom maps, or anything.
But if you still want to go further without reading the tutorial check the treepath of the files in the MPQ.

I'm trying to modify an existing adt. :)
The path is correct, I tried the MPQ file on another server and everything I did showed up... :/
I'm pretty sure I have to extract something from this adt and put it in the maps, vmaps and mmaps folders, I just don't know what and how.

Thank you for your time. :)

I can't figure out what's the problem, but not the vmaps that's 100%.
You can modify any existing ADT and it will show up on any server whether official or private.
Modifying an ADT with noggit is just client side, and I'm pretty sure you are doing something wrong with the MPQ or the files. If you could upload your file I can check it for you.

You are ensured wrong. Maps, vmaps and mmaps have absolutely nothing to do with what your client shows to you, only with what server does with your character and with NPCs in certain situations. But it has really nothing to do with terrai modeling/texturing, water, object spawns and such things, which are edited via noggit. So you either placed your edited ADTs into wrong MPQ, or into wrong WoW. I met a few people who were screaming that something didn't work and noone had idea what is wrong until we found out that they were just running wrong WoW client shortcut :D. Also, have you closed MPQ editor before running game client? Stupid question, I know, but such bug can by caused only by stupid action (I don't want to offend you, I just want to make this straight).
