[REQUEST] A complete Model -> 'M2 with texture' tutorial
« on: October 26, 2011, 10:27:20 pm »
Hey Modcraft.

So, Im pretty sure Im not the only one, so I'm just gonna ask this, and hopefully other people will benefit from it. So my question is, is it possible for anyone to make a pretty detailed tutorial on how to make a model from scratch in 3Ds Max, including textures, and how to convert it into a working M2 model with collision (saw Mjollna did it)?
I mean, I possible could figure out how its done, by reading all of the threads and posts and whatnot, all over the forum, but... It would just be a lot faster, and easier for newcomers, if it was all in one tutorial.
So any of you model creation experts out there who could make a tutorial which includes all those things? Possible animations too, if thats not too hard. Otherwise, just a tutorial on this without animations.

Thanks
Keta

Are you serious? i mean, Internet is full of 3ds max tutorials, search.
Just make the model, export it as MDX and add it collission with the tools posted in the tools section.
But MDXConverter is a little bugged, so you can use Blender to edit existing models.
Model editing is complicated, you can't learn with a simple tutorial.

Nah, 3 hours before this thread opened :D but it's missing the 3ds/obj -> mdx/mdl part.

Which is quite sad, as I've got quite some .3ds/.obj models laying around, I'll try some converters and see if it works a bit.

(Make in 1.39RU)
Skeleton made of MDLvis
Geometry made in MDLvis
Animations made in MDLvis
Attachment made in MDLvis
----------------
MDLvis very simple editor that is recognized by all.
Topic: "questions about MDLvis" exists, but there is not someone who does not write ... :|

Hmm...3ds -> mdx/mdl was never really a problem (even animated models), it was the mdx->m2 part that didn't really work (at least not with models generated with NeoDex). I'm going to try this route out with Mjollna's tutorial today, let's hope it works out fine :)
