Modelling and Animation / Re: Exporting animated models?
« on: October 09, 2015, 06:14:01 pm »
If you download WoW Model Viewer v7.0.5 you can export directly to fbx from WOTLK which will import directly into unity. The problem is that you will most likely need to fix the animations as the last few frames are usually broken (I think the WoW engine does something with these frames?). I've also found that creatures need less maintenance than characters to work correctly for whatever reason.

Another option would be to export to an obj/m2/m3 then use some modelling software to combine the geosets and rig the model then use mixamo/mecanim compatible animations.

This might help as well.

In the Alpha and Beta the target debug tooltip can be enabled by having SET debugTargetInfo "1" in the config.wtf. I think this was moved to the console after release (could be wrong).
For me it doesnt work in config. What should I type in the console?

P.S.Maybe I should also turn something on in the interface?

I'm at work at the moment so can't test this but IF, quite possibly it doesn't, the command exists in your client you'll need to type /console debugTargetInfo 1 in the chat window.

If you google "debugTargetInfo" + wow and click the top link (the wowdaily one) it should give you a bit more info.

Miscellaneous / Re: Where can i find 0.5.3 items

I've had a look through the ChartStartOutfit dbc file and have managed to pull out 9 items (5 letters) that never made the RC build but you can still see basic information on wowhead for (sorry can't post links not enough posts):
    152
    876
    6130
    6131
    6276
    6277
    6278
    6279
    6280
The most interesting ones are 6276 to 6280 which appear to be a letter that started the very first quest but only for undead players, I've had a hunt around and can't find any information about them except they started a quest...

As far as I'm aware there are (currently) no Alpha emulators that have working items or even an item database - hopefully I'm wrong as it would be interesting to see.

Having a quick look at WoW Matrix it appears that their sandbox was built using "snapshots" in places meaning items were never properly implemented; they simply found a set of packets that were sent on character create and copied them so every character you log in with has these same items as in the video...

Seriously good job on back porting the items! I had been working on a beta server for a couple of months and found getting the database right with all the missing model ids and spells to be a real pain.

Pretty cool. I've had that copy of AbyssX+the leaked F&F alpha client for a long time and have even gotten it running on OS X through WINE, but it's stuck in basic sandbox mode which only allows naked players to run around and explore. It's too bad there's no leaked/ripped copy of the alpha DB, because it'd be interesting to see the stats, spells, etc from that period.

Had they modernized the talent system by 0.8.x or was it still old skill points style?

Mage and Warrior have their talents in this build and all the rest are empty as Ghaster said.

I've just started looking at the Alpha client and making a sandbox for it and have the old talent system partially working, the talents don't seem to be so much as talents as more enhancements and some of them are literally like +1 stam. I've found an old micro site that ign hosted back in 2004 that contains pretty much everything about the Alpha (which I can't link as I haven't posted enough sorry...) including stats, spells, talents, mobs etc.
