[Showoff] The Isle of Kezan (Development diary)
« on: June 21, 2011, 08:21:07 pm »
Hey

So I was watching a few cata videos of the Isle of Kezan and thought that I wanted to make my own version of it. So I began working on it today!

-Day 1-

About 1/3 of the island textured, a small piece is shaped, there are no objects yet.
Don't tell me that the ground doesn't look good to the road or that the mountains aren't that good yet, cause as I said, it's still under development.

[spoiler:kmbduiyi]Here's what I made in 3D view

Here's what I made in 2D view

Here's the overview of the whole island

-Day 2-

I wasn't able to do that much today since our German relatives are coming over to visit us and they will be here until Saturday night, but I'll try to continue as much as I can.
Textured both sides of the mountain, fixed the shape of the sides a little bit + textured it. I also raised the land next to the road to give it more of a realistic effect, it might not be that easy to see in these pics but I hope it is!

I'll update this as soon as I make any progress.

While it's nice you're trying to create something of Cataclysm in 3.3.5 and in your own style, I'd personally (in my opinion!) see your own version of it, rather than Blizzard's. But that might just be me disliking Blizzard's version :). Texturing doesn't look too bad at all at the moment, but it's too little to tell at the moment.

I actually am creating my own version of it, I replaced some of the stuff to different places and well, I did rip some of the roads from cata, but other than that this is just 100% my version of it. For instance, in Cataclysm you can see it's all greyish n stuff from all the smoke from the factories and the volcano, while in here it's way more lively.

Hey nice texturing!
One thing:
Dont make the road look too crumbeled :D it still is a road what people use to transport things , so it should be a bit more continious ;)
Just  keep the edges crumbeled and put sometimes a hole in the middle. That makes it look more realistic , but dont overuse that style.

Cant wait for the doodads to appear :D
greetings

UPDATED!
I wasn't able (and I'm not going to be) to do much until Saturday since we're having our German relatives over to visit us. I'll do as much as I can though.

I'm going to try to do it more continious, although I'll do that and the dirt thingie once I've textured and put out the road all over the Island. Although, I did brush the road on softly so there is some dirt visible at some places, but I could do it more visible.

Thanks!
