The Future of FuTa
« on: April 15, 2012, 01:21:50 am »
Hi all

recently i arrived at a point with futa where i had to decide if i should go on working on FuTa as seperate tool or started to bring everything to Noggit.
i decided that it would more sense to work on with Noggit so Steff an me started to collect some ideas for next versions of noggit. a few days ago i started with this.

Since this will take a lot of time until we got everything into noggit, i wanted to ask u guys here which functions u really need for modding and i should try to bring to FuTa until noggit features are finished

so long
hanfer

adt creation is already in FuTa

a function for creating wdls is already on my harddisk waiting to be released
Water will be in noggit and export/import is in FuTa
my modelviewer + fixed version of Schlumpfs model import are already noggit repo and will be one of next noggit versions for sure....

this thread is meant for suggestions wich should be in FuTa because u really need it and there is no other (working) tool

Ground effects bound to textures wuld be nice so u only have to texture and not make any thing with Geffects

Hanver don´t meen what you want in noggit but what you NEED until we get noggit running.
WDT creation works very fine in Taliis.
ADT creation also and now in FuTa.

For groundeffects there is now a tool that fix the noggit problem with GroundEffects information layer thanks to hanfer and Mjollna. Adn you can set the GroundEffects ID with Futa.

The only thing missing now whould be a working WDL creation tool. And i think there whould also be a CMD tool the best for now. But perhaps this can also wait. Noone needet it till now.

All the other stuff can wait till noggit is running and clearly all the wishes modders have will go into noggit, because we the coders are also modder :)

The features i mentioned where just my suggestion what i would like to see in noggit/futa/noguta.
I would be nice if such features ware collected in just one programm like noggit so you don't have to use different tools D:
And also i hope that i did not misunderstand something.

Fixed that for you: The "what" is not the problem, the "how" and "do" is.

As longkallsong said it would be sweet to have ground effects addable in noggit, and having them bound to textures would be even better.

I can also imagine DBC manipulation implemented in noggit aswell, changing / adding skyboxes or creating new area IDs straight from noggit sure does sound nice.

Right, what I probably meant is I would like to see FuTa and noggIt as one instead of two separate tools :D
