[SOLVED] a way to copy my zone to a fresh tile?
« on: May 30, 2013, 12:06:16 am »
a while ago i remade GM Island and i was annoyed to find out i cant change gmisland without the game crashing.

so i turned to other zones and stuff for me and my friends to play in, and now decided to come back to this.

is there any way to copy the ground height to a new tile? i dont want to remake it from the start.
i dont know what its name is, but so i dont have to spend 5+ hours remaking with the raise/lower tool.

ive spend some time now with making new zones/tiles, but i'd like to be able to just copy my gmisland to one of them.

You can copy just the maptile adt files.,  rename them to new map name and use offsetfix on them.

Steff everytime someone uses Blizz maps you refer them not to use those because they crash most of the time.
And thats his problem. GM island crashes and just copying the adts and rename them wouldn't help much, would it?

To export and import Futa could help. You can find it hear: viewforum.php?f=72
BUT i don't know if this will work 100% correct as i never tested it.

I have used Rius Zone Masher for this before. Not sure if it will work for your specific purpose.

ok im not exactly sure, but nothing is happening when i click export on the textures in futa. dont know why?

it seems i can save a heightmap at least. gonna go ahead and see if the heightmap imports.
if i cant get textures to export/import, thats okay. texturing takes a long time but its the easier part if you ask me lol.

ill try out that rius zone masher thing soon, and see if it does the trick.

If you use futa for exporting the textures the three layers will get saved in the folder where the adt is located.

alright, futa doesn't work as well as i thought it would. it copied the heightmap and textures fine..but only on 1 of noggit's red squares (it only copied 1 tile, not the whole ADT)

i just tried riu's zone masher, and so far it seems to be great. my WDT loaded in noggit with no missing pieces after merging my gmisland into my continent.

i always get sidetracked and look at M2's to maybe use, or try to do 3 things at once and everything takes me 2x longer that it should lol.
going to take a break for now and i'll patch the new WDT and try it out later today.

i'm hoping that nothing crashes when i turn on my server and try it later.  :?

But the zone mesher only copy adts,  rename them and offsetfix.  And update the wdt.  So you still have your old adts.

had some time tonight to patch that WDT, but it didnt work. the island ADTs were invisible in-game. i put it in the middle of a flat area that i didnt work on yet, and there was a big empty square where it should be.

i'm going to just leave this alone then, keep the files as something to look at in noggit when im bored i guess. it's not really something i needed to put into my map, but it would've been cool.

if someone knows a way that'll 100% work i'd appreciate it, but i'm not going to take time "trying" stuff, lol.

yeah, it seemed to be fine, but it's something with the GM Island that just doesn't wanna be changed for some reason.

Did you auto creat the wdt. Or select adt manual
If use the scan folder function of Taliis.
