[Bug] [Rev263] Extreme texture reflection
« on: September 08, 2011, 06:17:39 pm »
!!! EDIT: Bug can be fixed by loading the map in an older version of Noggit, the terrain changed a bit (for example flatting) and saved !!!

I used Noggit rev 263 for some new texturing (grass and street), but as I looked at it ingame...

As I change the angle, I can see more. For me it seems to be just a bug with the reflection.

Here the differences

It's not on the adt, just on some of the smaller quarters. The road was also made with the new noggit but is just fine.

That's how it looks in Noggit. Look at the upper right corner. The blend-thing isn't a blend-thing anymore. I thought, it was just a show-bug (yeah, directly translated from german), and used it. Maybe a fault.

Well, the question is: Does anyone know how to fix it easily because of knowing this bug or relevated bugs? I tried to load it in an older noggit and change the texture a little bit but it didn't change anything.

Greetings
Sina

Is the big showing up in the 3d view of Noggit at all?
May you please upload these damaged adts?
Did you use 3d or 2d texturing?

"The big showing up"? Well as meant this: The reflection bug isn't in 3D-View of Noggit, there it looks alright (well, very dark, but this is normal for Noggit :D). There are also no interface-differences between 3D and 2D-view.

The adt: http://www.file-upload.net/download-3721259/Vakara_3_3.adt.html
(don't know, if you needed all adts of the map. First uploaded just the corrupted, because it would take a loong time to upload 100mb with my ***** internet)

I used most 2d-texturing, maybe, I think, I just used it. But normaly I mix it.

Thanks for the fast answer :)

I can confirm this, same issue here. I thought it was me due to using the 'Impassible Flag'. But apprently others have these issues too.

So this issue happens when texturing anything in 2d or 3d and not doing anything else?

You may want to answer the question so I can actually investigate this.
As you said its light reflection, there should not be any way its caused by painting.

Well, a good idea maybe.

I also raised the ground to make hills. I didn't raise the road and there is no bug.

Please try, how exactly you can reproduce the bug. Also, try to do it with as little steps as possible.

I tryed it again, on the same adt, on another, same problem (won't upload the screens, where just spam and too much work).

I also tryed it on Blizzard-maps. Well, you see where I raised... wait! I also raised left side! But...

Well, I forgot to test the oppesite thing of raiseing for which I forgot the word. Will edit the post.

So everything you did here was just raising something, saving and nothing more?

Yes, I raised it (well, changed size and pressure... should try it without)*, raised something, saved all. That's it.

Here for the opposite thing:

[spoiler:1lx49zr2][/spoiler:1lx49zr2]

*Tryed it without changing size, same bug.

(I'm so exited :D I needed three years to get noggit working. The only thing I'm usefull for is to recreate bugs xD )

But something new I saw: It's according to the little triangles, not to the bigger quarters (in which only 4 textures can be placed).

Look at these screens:
Noggit 2D texturing:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/26 ... notig.jpg/
WoW ingame:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/54 ... 12958.jpg/
It seems that Noggit saves the shadows from 2D on the ADT's.

I also found a way to "fix" the extreme texture reflection. Just open up you edited/buggy zone with an older version than Noggit3.263 and change the terrain a bit (flatten/blur). Save this and pack it in you custom patch.

I don't like Noggit... I LOVE it :D
If you have any question about Noggit, feel free to contact me. I will give my best to help you (:

Jok3r, sorry to tell you that, but to just change a little bit with an older version and save it is the most easyest way to fix something and you don't think I forgot it?

Well, I did.

I could cry *head->wall*

I just changed the textures in the older version and were to stupid to change the terrain.

Well, look at these "beautifull" grass now *g*

I confirm this (renewed) at a later date in time. It is when you edit any zones, add texture and delete objects and edit the land height/smoothness it will cause it to be white.
