[SOLVED] Model Porting OBJ to M2 Crash in Game
« on: December 25, 2014, 05:26:00 pm »
Heya! So, I recently tried porting the 'Majora's Mask' model, from the Legend of Zelda, to World of Warcraft's 3.3.5a server by going into Blender, attaching textures, exporting it, and then converting it to M2 format and all that doodah. I managed to get it working in the WowModelViewer, producing a rather recognisable model with no glitchy geosets and a solid mesh. However, when I tried to replace the 'Demon Hunter Blindfold' Model with it, I am greeted with a crash every time it shows up in-game, no error message apart from 'World of Warcraft has stopped responding':

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:   APPCRASH
  Application Name:   WoW (2).exe
  Application Version:   3.3.5.12340
  Application Timestamp:   4c2452fe
  Fault Module Name:   ntdll.dll
  Fault Module Version:   6.1.7601.22436
  Fault Module Timestamp:   521eaa80
  Exception Code:   c0000005
  Exception Offset:   0003b489
  OS Version:   6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.1
  Locale ID:   2057

Attached is the M2 I made (HEAD) and the OBJ and MTL it originated from (the Zelda, Majora's Mask zip). Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance for your time!

My guess is that you borked the model and it's crashing as a result.  When I load it up in WMV sometimes it displays almost-fine and other times it has jagged yellow spikes.

Okay, got it working. Now to fix the positioning, which I'm guessing I'm gunna have to go back to Blender to do.

The UV map too since it didn't like the seven meshes and textures.  Did you create that other account to post this?
