Noggit fails to load custom instance
« on: June 11, 2011, 01:35:34 pm »
I have tried many times now but some reason noggit simply won't load my custom instance no matter what, i have wow 3.3.5a with no custom patches, DBFilesClient and world/maps is in my WoW directory, it seems to load after the MPQs but doesn't appear on noggit.

This is my log pasted in pastebin:
http://pastebin.com/SbcQTuJb

I've even gone asfar to try this on the rev120 release of noggit to no avail so i'm deperately in need of help and answers. :D

BTW using WoW 3.3.5a and noggit rev 104.

Have you copied the BC entry from azeroth or kalimdor to creat you new Map.dbc entry. So yll needet data exists in your new row. Just copy and chnage the ID and the Name.

You mean create a new row in my map.dbc, because i have done that, with the latest version of the dbc file.

Heres my map files packed in rar format if it helps:

no not create but copy the azeroth or kalimdor row and just change the id and the name. so you have the right values for a continent.

Does Noggit actually load your DBC? Is it in a MPQ or in the directory DBFilesClient? Does it show up in the log?

Just judging from your first log: It should show up, I see nothing pointing to it not showing up.

I'm stuck on this as well... Two tries from the start and they both got stuck at the same place... Figured I'd come here to 'search' for help to hopefully make the third time a charm...

I've been following Eulo's tutorial...

Used Taliis to make a new .wdt - named it and mapped out the adt array - saved it - made the adt with the ground texture - saved it - closed Taliis, opened adt adder created additional adt's - ran the offset fix - extracted the map.dbc from patch-enUS-3.MPQ - opened map.dpc with mpq editor - copied 'Kalimdor', switched to 'Strings' added my map name, found my map number - went back to the first 'Table' list, and added my number to fields #1 and #5... the tutorial said #1 and #7 but on mine it was fields 1 and 5 that had the copied entry's name (number)... ... and I incremented field #0 by +1 from the entry above it.

I skipped the 'for your server' part because I'm not ready for using this with my server... I'd like to load it into Noggit and play with some terrain before I move on to that...

I'm getting hung up here...

Quote from: "Eulo's Tutorial"
At this point noggit won't show up your new instance because you will have to put the Files also in the wow folder and not in the patch beacuse noggit sets the priority of the dbc files to those who are extraced into your wow folder.
So just take the dbc,the adts and the wdt files and put them in to the wow folder like this:
For adts:
wowfolderworldmapsyourawsomeinstancename
For the dbc:
wowfolderDBFilesclient

...at first I forgot to copy the .wdt over with the .adt's, but was able to figure that out from looking at my first log...

Thoughts? Questions?

Noggit does not care who created the data. It just reads the Map.dbc, then checks if the referenced data is having an WDT, having ADTs set, is not a WMO only world. It does not care at all, as long as that is given.

So you MUST have

1. Set the path of noggit to the right wow folder.
2. Hav a folder DBFilesClient diret in this wow folder with you Map.dbc and (if you want to manage your own areaid names) the AreaTable.dbc. NOT IN THE DATA FOLDER!
3. The World/maps/YOURINSTANCENAME folder in the wow folder. . NOT IN THE DATA FOLDER!
4. Inside your YOURINSTANCENAME folder one OURINSTANCENAME.wdt with alle ADTs you want to use marked.
5. All OURINSTANCENAME_XX_YY.adt files that you have marked inside the wdt file.
6. NO custom patches inside yur wow/data folder. Only patch 1, 2 and 3 no other!

Tip: Use 2 differen WoW game folders. 1 for noggit whare you have your data direct inside. And one to put your MPQ files in data and test them ingame.

I often help guys that dont get it to work. And the problems was NEVER noggit. Mistakes in DBCs, WDT, ADTs missing that are marked in WDT, wrong config file, custom patch in folder and so on.

And READ the FAQs and the manual! The most stuff is written in there.

viewtopic.php?f=48&t=38

wiki/index.php5?title=Noggit_user_manual

And if not PM me so i can add it.

Steff's list kinda just confirmed what I suspected from looking at the files that Schlumpf linked...   ...Eulo's tutorial didn't mention a step for AreaTable.dbc.

It's bed time for me now, but hopefully I'll be able to take a swing tomorrow.
