[SOLVED] Problem with Texture (Black Bands in game)
« on: September 09, 2015, 11:12:02 pm »
Hello guys,

I try to resolve a problem on Noggit, but, i need your help ....

On noggit, i paint the map, it's nice. But on World Of Warcraft i have many black bands on all my maps (or texture bands). I can not find solutions to my problem and i do not know where to look ...

I attached two pictures, one on Wow and the other on Noggit.

On noggit  :)  :

On Wow  :(  :

Anyone have this problem, and have you resolve it ?

(Sorry if I speak wrong, I'm not speaking english very well...)

Those chunk border lines appear sometimes. It's a Noggit issue. You have to play around with the terrain (elevate, lower, smooth) just edit the terrain because those lines appear when the map is completely flat.

Nope, thats not true. I get this bug everytime I texture anything in my maps. Way to solve it is really simple - after another save those lines will disappear. So all you need to do is to open your map again, edit ADTs and save. Lines should disappear.

Since it seems you are beginner, I would like to tell you that noggit is a little bit buggy with saving right now (well, it always was), so never save your map twice per running an application (after every save restart application and after that continue working) and if it is possible, try to always save the whole map. Map shown after pressing M key shows you which ADTs are edited and will be saved. Try to always edit all of them before saving. Fix gaps (all adts) in Assisst menu is great tool for this, because it edits all ADTs which are loaded in memory. If you won't follow these 2 rules, you might either get some duplicated models (and thus performance losses or even errors from memory overloads) or some models can simply disappear. If you already knew this, my apologies :). Good luck with WoW modding.

I only had them if i used blizzard adts as templates. Like QA DVD.
Till i did always my own adts with taliis and then used template i never had this problem.

Thats true, I use ADTs made of copies of QA_DVD ones. There have been some problems reported with Taliis-made ADTs as far as I remember and I haven't been succesful when I tryed to create my own template ADT with Taliis - it just never worked and created ADT was causing crashes in both Noggit and client. I trust Taliis with no tasks anymore. I rather have this little and very easy to fix glitch than risk crashes. But maybe I will take a look at your template ADT Steff.

Good luck with WoW modding.

Thank's for your help, and yes i have this noggit bugs, but i tried to switch with Noggit SDL 1.4 (for texture and mountain/water) and Noggit 3 for add some objects, but we try to go for the best :) .

At this time, i think Noggit can't manage more than X objects on a map, maybe an exception in the program.

That's true, i am on QA DVD. I will try to review Taliis editor and read more documents, because i have already make a map with this software, but for this moment, i don't understand how to place a ground ...

I have all my .adt with the fix (start_for_windows_dummies.cmd), but in Tallis, i have nothing in Texture File section (maybe the game can't be loaded, i will try in admin mode and others manipulations).

I try again tonight and I come to you for the news.

Thank for replies,
Fangames.

Noggit can handle thousands of objects, I am not sure what are you talking about... And what about your issues with "placing a ground" and the rest? Can you be more accurate? We can find solutions to these things. I won't help you with Taliis itself, like I said, I don't use it since I have no trust in that outdated app, but if you need to help with anything else, just let me know either in this topic or in PM.

When i try to add 50 objects and more on this cemetery, i lost randomly many objects if i save.

This screen has been taken on Noggit SDL 1.4 after add the objects on Noggit 3. It work, i can save only if i don't have again more objects.

cim.png[/attachment:6u2ht0kf]

I add more objects :

test_1.png[/attachment:6u2ht0kf]

I save on Noggit SDL 1.4 :

test_2.png[/attachment:6u2ht0kf]

Strange problem, but, i can override this problem with my method.

For "placing a ground", it's on Taliis.

With a tutorial, i make my .wdt, i duplicate my .adt with ADT Adder and i execute offsetfix.bat. I make my .dbc for open this map on Noggit, i open it, and i have nothing. But this problem is solved with this line in Taliis :

tilesetelwynnelwynngrassbase.blp added on Texture Files.

I have again the problem with Noggit SDL 1.4, objects disappear when i save. In Noggit 3, they don't.

I start Wow, and i have my map (make on Taliis) without black lines. That's great !

Did i make this post in [Solved] now, or did i wait a reply for the second problem (not too problematic for me, but maybe other members if they have my problem) ?

Like I said, never save in Noggit SDL 1.4 twice. Always make your edits, save AND RESTART WHOLE application before doing any other edits. You should get no model disappearing bugs with this method. If you still have model disappearing after saves, it probably should not be Noggit's fault (at least you would be the first user getting this bug even while following this method as far as I know), you may try to use another than Taliis-made ADTs.

Btw, about those Noggit versions, use Noggit SDL 1.4, I am working with it for about 6 months now and I have never encountered any bug which isn't also present in all older versions, except this model-deleting bug but once again, it can be easily avoided if you never save twice per running an application.
