[PROJECT] Mountain Wu'dan

Hello modcraft community,


a few weeks ago i uploaded pictures of my mountain. I've got only earned good comments and the most people who commented my thread where interested in my work. So my idea is thread of my work progress.
I work a few days of week at my mountain so my objective is to upload every 1-2 weeks some pictures of my progress.
I hope a few people are interested to see my work progress.
The name of the Mountain is "Wu'dan". I like this name and i think the name have the style of Kun'lai from mists of pandaria.
So here the progress.

Version 0.5


Progress:
● Basic mountain shaping
● Play with textures
● Added little area with mountains[/quote]




Version 1.0


Progress:
● Added much more mountains
● Learning more and more how to shaping mountains
● Added little bit environment
● Added a few .m2 (Rocks, Bushes)
● Added groundeffects




Version 1.5


Progress:
● Finished back page
● Added a applied lesser mountain at the side
● Added plateaus
● Added little trail up to mountain





Version 1.6


Progress:
● Added ground of much more mountains
● changed stone texture
● Objective for next week: mountains mountains mountains!


Version 1.8


Progress:
● Added much more mountains
● Fixed some texture bugs
● Enough of mountains for next days



Version 1.8.5


Progress:
● Added a small crystalsong zone
● Added small horden village
● Changed textures
● Fixed texture bugs









Mountain Wu'dan is only the middle of a huge zone. I want to create a complete finished zone and i hope to get tips from you what i can do better to get the ultimate zone :)
So let your comments under my thread and tell me what you think about my work!


Objectives for future:
● Add mountains around Wu'dan
● Add a valley
● Add city/cities
● Add a story for this mountain
● Add Skybox
● Add area names
● Add much trees and rocks for more atmospheric

I like your enthusiasm, However the mountain texture work isn't working for me. It's novice quality, Often if i've been texturing for hours, and start slacking, I end up with similar dotty mountains, having to erase it and start over.

There's nowhere in the real world, where you find dotty mountains. WoW is a artistic representation of a real world. (graphically I mean).

Therefore you have to paint the content, as if it was a toony painting of a real mountain. Huge cliffs, spikey rocks, it's all welcome.

A good tip, is to take reference from the Blizzard artists, as they ARE some of the craziest game designers you can find.
