[SOLVED] [QUESTIONS/PROBLEMS] It's all about Eversong.
« on: January 25, 2015, 12:17:15 am »
Hi,

first of all, I'm sorry for making tons of post asking for doubts or looking for help, but this shitty map is pissing me off.

Context: I'm trying to edit Eversong for personal purposes, but I've a lot of bugs.

Bugs:

1- Noggit 3 clear all the water in the map, I can't see any piece of ocean, or lake, or whateva'. And I don't know how to put water again. (viewtopic.php?f=59&t=8845)

2- If I edit the ruins, in some parts I see how the camera fly away and I listen a very unusual sound (It's like when you're deep in the ocean in WoW)

3- If I edit the adt that include Silvermoon City, then in the city I see everything appearing and disappearing (like a light bulb being turned on and turned off)

I'd appreciate all the help that you can give me, 'cause I already have a 6 adts map that I don't want to delete.

P.S: Sorry about my english, but it isn't my first language.

1. What version of noggit are you using? If 1.2 SDL, try newest 1.3. You can use AllWater tools with both of them, which is made for adding water on chunks. AllWater is for sure in pack of tools for beginners linked in tutorials.

2. I'm not sure at all what are you talking about. Were you editing AreaIDs? May you provide some screenshots/short video?

3. This happens whenever some WMO object is duplicated. Duplicating of objects is generally one of the biggest problems in noggit. Select Silvermoon WMO (remember its heigh coords) and try to move it a little bit up/down. If you will see that there are in fact 2 (or even more) WMOs saved, delete all duplicates, until you are ensured that there is only 1 object of Silvermoon left.

And always make sure that you are saving all ADTs containing Silvermoon WMO at once (meaning always edit and save all ADTs which are at least a little bit hit by green bounding box in SDL 1.3, I'm not sure if it is also in SDL 1.2, I think its not). In SDL 1.3 make sure you always restart noggit after saving and never save twice per running of app.

1- I'm using SDL 1.3, and I tried Allwater, but is kinda a pain in the ass because there are some areas that have different heights. I'd love a programme that copy the chunks from original adts, like copymclq that give me errors (viewtopic.php?f=59&t=8845)

2- OK, here is your image.

I don't know if you'll understand, but as you can see, when I step on that edge I see how the camera fly away. (Image: Look how far is the camera from my tester, and I play Wow in the default configuration).

3- I fucking love you.

1. AllWater is the best we have. About heights, just place object on surface of the water, so you can find out on what height water is there. Blizzard's water isn't chunk based like in AllWater, its 8x more accurate and also enables not just 0° surfaces, so you might need to remodel bottoms of the rivers, add some waterfalls and such things to be able to remake blizzlike water into our, which is being saved by Noggit 1.3 SDL. Yes, 1.3 can save wter. But only some water, sadly.

2. Mhm, still no idea. You might want to check that place if you don't have any bugged inivisble object, it (very rarely) can happen with WMOs, but I don't suppose it is this bug, because its leading to huge fps drops and you would write about that if you had them.

3. I fucking like fucking you. Just kidding, I hope it will help you. Because of this, its best to just select how big area you want to edit and always save all ADTs there at once. Expanding modded area in already made map will lead to model duplications on boarders of old modded area. Tool erasing such models is already being developed as far as I know, but its not here yet. The best is just to have your own map, with water and ground effects made by you. Map, where you know which ADTs have to be saved together and where is nothing you are not using.

Thats why I never advise newcommers to mod or at least start with blizzlike maps, because its just pain when you don't know what all can go wrong after saving something in noggit and if you don't know how to solve such things. Schlumpf, pleas, don't react on this with something like "blizzlike ADTs are the same 'cause reasons". I'm NOT opposing you. But thats just not what I'm talking about here.

Yes, I totally agree.

I've a little project that include Blizzard maps, that's because I'm editing those. In the other hand, I'll try to use AllWater with the map.

Well, thank you again. Have a nice day.

EDIT: Every time I delete the duplicate WMO, it appear again. I can't delete it.

I saw this: image1.png[/attachment:1p0o0ufb], then I deleted those 2 WMOs.

I CLOSED noggit, then I opened again and I see 2 more now: image2.png[/attachment:1p0o0ufb]

Noggit is trolling me now.

That happens whenever you don't edit and save all ADTs including that WMOs. Select WMO, track its green bounding box (or whatever it is, that green one, I'm not sure if it really is bounding box, lets just call it so until someone says what it really is) and click into every ADT with flatten/blur tool to make it marked as edited and flagged for saving. In original map it shall look somehow like this:

Its square around ADT 45 13. I would recommend saving also 43 12, 43 13 and 43 14. These 9, maybe 12 ADTs are all containing Silvermoon's WMO and thus should be saved always all together. Whenever at least 1 won't be saved with others, WMO will be most likely duplicated while being saved.

Oh, I understand.

You said that in previous answers, and I forgot. Fool me.

Thank you, like always.
