Problem with Importing Model to WoW
« on: August 01, 2010, 06:54:50 pm »
HeyHo everybody,

Just tried to import a Model to WoW with Jack's Tutorial, but there's a problem:

Because there's no Download Link to 3dstoM2 in the Thread, I googled it and found a Download Link but I think it is the false one, because I can only type the 3ds Model then the M2 Model Name but nothing with the .skin file as it is on the picture in Jack's Tut. It also askes me nothing like ( Also on the Picture of the TuT) : How many Textures do you want?...etc.

Any Idea what could be the problem?^^ Maybe it is the false Version of 3dstoM2?

Regards,
Vargas

Ok, I've found a working and new Version of 3dstom2, but I have another Problem.

I managed to convert the .3ds file into a .m2 file and also to put the .blp, the .skin andthe .m2 file into a patch. But when I try to look the Model in Modelviewer I see nothing, just a blue screen. ( And yea the scale is adjusted ).

Any idea what could be the Problem?

Regards.

Tried it and also didn't work.

When I try to do it with 2.x WoW it works so maybe it is some problem with the .skin file? The tris are saved in the .skin file, aren't they? So maybe I just don't see the Model because there are no Tris, only Vertices?

Any known Problems with the .skin File?

I'm using the newest Version of 3dstoM2.

Any Idea?  :?

Vargas

If it works with 2.x it can't be the newest...
try: http://www.file-upload.net/download-275 ... 2.exe.html

But thanks, I'll try this one out.

Edit: Oh, now I see something but another Problem:...

Happens to me most of the time too, you could try glitchy's 3.x. MES, it's got .obj -> .m2 conversion too and it works pretty much perfect for me, there's just no chance of having animations for it. Talking about static models like items or props it's the best solution.

Alright thanks  :uok:

Works now pretty good but I have still one problem:

The Textures are distorted.

Is this a problem with the Adjustments when I export it in 3ds Max ? If yes, what do I have to adjust?

Or is it another problem?

Did you convert it with glitchy's MES or 3dstom2? Anyways, upload a screenshot your export settings, because yes, the problem might lie there.

First of all you don't have to export the materials, uncheck smoothing groups and if it still doesn't work disable the three optimize settings, that might help too.

Otherwise here's a link to tutorial stuff about the conversion function, made by glitchy himself: http://rapidshare.com/files/228425079/Tutorial.zip (also contains a how-to video and files)
