[problem] Noggit shut down
« on: December 21, 2012, 06:34:34 pm »
Hey guys,

I'm new here and i wanted to start with level design. Downloaded a fine version of WoW 3.3.5a and the newest Noggit SDL 1.2, but everytime I want to open the noggit.exe, it cloeses instandly. I read a few threads in this forum which had the same problem, but nothing could help me. Would be great If someone could help me :)

Config file:

Code: [Select]
#This is a config file template. To use it rename into noggit.conf and set your options
#Edit this to your WoWFile!!!
Path = D:ModcraftWoW 3.3.5World of Warcraft 3.3.5a

#Edit this to your Project-Directory and uncomment if you want to use it!
#ProjectPath = D:ModcraftProject

#Set this to the file where you will import models from (the model viewer log for example :) )
#ImportFile  = Path to Model Viewer log file

#The far clipping value. Set to 2048, 3072, 4096 etc. for a further look. Higher values need more 3d power.
#1024 is the standard value and will be taken if you do not set this value.
#FarZ=2048

Log file:

Code: [Select]
4 - (Noggit.cpp:130): Noggit Studio - SDL 1.2
183 - (Video.cpp:204): [Debug] GL: Version: 1.1.0
183 - (Video.cpp:205): [Debug] GL: Vendor: Microsoft Corporation
183 - (Video.cpp:206): [Debug] GL: Renderer: GDI Generic
183 - (Noggit.cpp:245): [Error] Initializing video failed.

Others may have something more useful to say, but what I can suggest is that maybe your graphics card is incompatible with Noggit. My graphics card broke the other day and since I need to wait to get it fixed, I've been forced to use the integrated graphics chipset on my PC instead. And, well, Noggit doesn't even open anymore. It immediately shuts down, even though my drivers are 100% up-to-date for the integrated graphics. This could be your problem as well but I wouldn't draw that conclusion until you've done more experimenting and testing. Welcome to the World of Trouble-Shooting.

Doesn't even use config file according to log.

EDIT: Failed. Didn't read properly. Apologizing.

... How about renaming the .conf to the proper name ? Read the F.A.Q. or try figuring it yourself.

Please don't try giving support when you don't know about the issue. The log clearly states that it was unable to initialize video, which is no wonder, given that there only is some integrated GPU. Xapzi was right in this case.

I imagine you were probably wanting a better and more definite answer than that but it really does seem that you have a graphics card issue when running Noggit. To demonstrate this, I checked my log file as well. It goes:

2 - (Noggit.cpp:130): Noggit Studio - SDL 1.2
73 - (Video.cpp:204): [Debug] GL: Version: 1.1.0
73 - (Video.cpp:205): [Debug] GL: Vendor: Microsoft Corporation
73 - (Video.cpp:206): [Debug] GL: Renderer: GDI Generic
74 - (Noggit.cpp:245): [Error] Initializing video failed.

You and I have the exact same error. The numbers to the left change everytime so they're irrelevant. But this pretty much says that your graphics card can't run Noggit and there is nothing you can do about it without upgrading your graphics card. My only advice is to update your drivers and hope for the best. Other than that, there really isn't anything you can do besides buying new hardware.

Grafic card to bad or to old driver. Onboard GFX.

1.Update your GXF driver
2. Buy a new grafic card

far z is not needed. If not set it take the fit value of 1024.
Only path MUST been set if you use config file.

Again please post both.

Sorry, my fault  :)

#This is a config file template. To use it rename into noggit.conf and set your options
#Edit this to your WoWFile!!!
#Path = D:ModcraftWoW 3.3.5World of Warcraft 3.3.5a

#Edit this to your Project-Directory and uncomment if you want to use it!
#ProjectPath = D:ModcraftProject

#Set this to the file where you will import models from (the model viewer log for example :) )
#ImportFile  = D:ModcraftModelvieweruserSettings

#The far clipping value. Set to 2048, 3072, 4096 etc. for a further look. Higher values need more 3d power.
#1024 is the standard value and will be taken if you do not set this value.
#FarZ=2048

Please read this slowly and 5 times. And after every sentence check if you did what there is written. I see on a fast look 2 problems in this file mentiond there

wiki/index.php5?title=Noggit_user_manual#The_config_file

If you have done all of the stuff written there and still got problems please again post both files.
