Skin Appears Bright Green But It's Correct?
« on: January 16, 2015, 11:07:50 pm »
I made custom skins for a race and it's appearing green (When the game can't locate skins) in-game. I have done this many times before without issue, and I am not sure what could be causing it. I have done the following.

BLPs are all named and converted correctly.
All skins are within the proper size limit.
I tried saving every skin in every bit type (32, 24, etc.) for if that might of been the issue, none worked.
All skins are in the proper directory.
The patch is in the proper directory since the other things I made (Modified DBCs, gear skins, NPC textures) are working properly.
I tried applying a patch without the above files and only the skins, still no luck.
I made sure to clear any caches or anything like that just in case, no luck.
Converter worked fine for all the other skins, so it's not a converter issue from what I can tell.
All skins have matching names with the default files (And it's obviously looking at the right ones since it doesn't display the original).
Tried two patch names which normally work, and do work as the non-player skin mods are working fine (patch-enUS-8 and patch-Z).

I have no clue, I checked everything I can think of, and it just confuses me that all the other skins work fine. I also downloaded another skin patch, which worked, but not when I added mine to it, just as a test (It screwed all of them up). Is there something I am missing that is different with player skins or something?

Can you explain what you did exactly to "convert it correctly to blp"?

Sorry I wasn't specific. I made the PNG files as normal and converted them with the BLP converter like I usually do (They came out as BLP files with no errors I was aware of), I have used it before with gear/NPCs/etc. this was my first time doing a player model, which is why I am not 100% sure. Really the only thing I can think of is if player character skins have something different about them like another BLP format or something, but I couldn't find anything on it.

I have two converters and tried with both of them, still no luck.

Player model needs indexed mode on your picture, try changing it on your .PNG.

Well like Phucko1 said you have to save the png indexed then save.

Now as for converting it to blp you can't just drop it on the blpconverter.

Step 1: Create shortcut of blpconverter.

Step 2: Right-click on the shortcut and click on properties.

Step 3: Where it says target go all the way to the end type space then /H and then press apply & ok.

Step 4: Now drag and drop the png onto the shortcut and there you go.

You actually don't have to make it indexed and loose the alpha transparency.

http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/i ... ility.html

This program has settings for clothing and character texture and wont loose the alpha transparency by making it indexed.

This program requires a pngs, which can't be saved with alpha transparency.
