Its not finished yet!
I know, its not perfect, but im proud :D

You need more plateus on the plateus :P Also you've to strong texture opacity on your rock.
-
okey thank you ^^
but i dont know the technique of this mountains, so i dont know how i do it best :D
-
We can talk in skype and I can expain you some basics about mountains creation.
-
sure :)
add me on skype: Nekatus :)
-
I think it have a very nice and interesting different look. Oike it much.
Just as said aready more texture opercity differences. And add some vegetation on top and green textures.
Dont here tomuch in this time about others tipps about how it is right.
Else you will perhaps loose your own style :)
Finish it and show again. Would love to see it finished.
-
Hey, this is not so bad ! :D
With a better texture work it could look like the Howling Fjord !
Maybe the road is kind of hazardous and really hard to take, but this is a good beginning. ;)
Here have a screen of the kind of mountains I am working on now.

It's not the same style at all, but it might give you some ideas about how you could work your mountains !
-
Allifeur, it looks great. Can you explain a way you do this? (Seems like Northrend big alpha texturing for me).

It looks great now, but still not perfect. Add some dirt to mountains and a groundeffects set to grass. Spawn trees with random size and rotation/tilt. Hope to see the progress. ;)
-
Groundeffects are coming and ill spawn a few rocks and other trees ^^
-
And details. Bush, mushroms, small stones or flowers.
Many of them;)
-
Today i will spawn the mushrooms etc :) then i post more pictures.
-
So heres the result of my work today.

Well, it was inspired from Gilneas mountains style, but with some modifications in order to make something less usual.
I used the flatener tool in order to make angular platforms. Then I drawed black lines with a low diameter in order to make the top and the base of the rock more obvious, I also make a separation between several "blocks" this way. I used a less powerfull pressure in order to make the lower part and the upper part darker. Only the center is clear. For the "flater" part, i play with textures in order to make a variation of colors. I generaly make some kinds of circles with a low opacity. Then I add the sand and sometimes I make it fall over the rock, adding some relief.
@ Nekatus : You should play more with the dirtiness of your textures.

Zoom the picture, and look at how the textures are made. They are not as clean as yours.
There is also something missing with your grass I guess...
-
Youe work is amazing.:o
Can you upload a 2D view of your textures in noggit please? Or a little example? I dont know what i have to do to get dirty textures.
-
@Aliffeur: Are these mountains made by you?
-
The last picture from Aliffeur is from the Howling Fjord (Alliance base in the west)

There's only one f and there are two L, please. ALLIFEUR.
I believed you could recognize without any problems the Howling fjord, you should analyse more Blizzard's mountains.
Anyway I would enjoy to be that good.
-
Sorry, i just had looked how fearless has writen your name :/
But yeah, i would also enjoy it to texture like blizzard o:
-
now ive paint the rock texture a Little bit more with dirt. your opinion?
thanks to fearless_wind for help!
-
Cracks look awesome! Add some bigger dirt parts and it you will have the final result ;)
-
THIS.IS.TOO.CLEAN.. !!! You shall be more violent with your dirt, you should make them by considering the forms of your mountains.
Anyway, do you use Noggit 1.3 ? Because you have a lot a triangular forms that are terribly ugly, you should do something about that.
-
Thank you much, fearless :) i will do that!:)
No i use noggit 1.2. I think i know what you mean. But how can i fix that?

You should take Noggit 1.3, it's better for mountains : The Noggit version is better. You'll have to use the flattener tool a little with a small radius in order to destroy those.
-
Okai thank you for this tip. I will try it:)
-
so i have tried it, but it doesnt work.

Allifeur, Noggit 1.3 has a bit more nice features but it produces a lot more chunk fault (cracks between chunks) especially while bluring or flattening. In addition, it saves models incorrectly. However, you can use unstable Noggit version but nobody promise stable work with it even if the model bug is fixed.
-
yes, noggit 1.3 build a lot of cracks between the .adt's. its terrible
