Title: [QUESTION] dungeon Design
Post by: ArtGoiner on March 20, 2013, 04:07:59 pm
Alright So i did a bit of research and found a list of integers that i have to adjust in the Map.dbc file. Except when i make the WDT and ADT's as if im making a continent and then adjust the Map.dbc for my new island to be a dungeon, it displays in noggit but dont let me click on it to open the dungeon up. Any Ideas? Do i have to change other files or..??? im stuck plz help!

Noggit log, tell us what you added, changed, what is the typical behavior, etc. Try giving more.

is the Log. My New dungeon I added is called "Battle Skar Deeps" ^^ Not in the log. my Norrath and Slibstar i removed but havnt deleted the Map.dbc file of them yet.

I made a WDT file using Taliis named it "Battle Skar Deeps" , then I checked all the ADT's I wanted and saved it as Battle Skar Deeps.wdt and then made a ADT called Battle Skar Deeps and added a texture to it. Then saved it as Battle Skar Deeps.adt and then I went into my Map.dbc and cloned Kalimdor and changed the totals.( ill add picture)

After I added the line in my Map.dbc i saved that map.dbc and went into Noggit (just like i did with my continet which worked perfectly) and I see it in the link in noggit (also add a picture) but it's not allowing me to click on it at all to open it up.

In taliis the "Marindore" is my continent in which works perfectly. The Battle Skar Deeps line has a 1 for the first integer column as that indicated its a "Party Dungeon"
but doesnt work in noggit. i did everything the exact same as when i made my continent except the value "1" for the dungeon column. please help!

UPDATE---

I changed the value of my dungeon in Map.dbc from "1" defining it as a dungeon back to "0" and it works as a continent just fine. I guess now my question is what else do i have to update or change to make noggit read it as a dungeon?!

You should check http://www.pxr.dk/wowdev/wiki/index.php?title=Map.dbc (http://www.pxr.dk/wowdev/wiki/index.php?title=Map.dbc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
So normally it should be a 1 (3    AreaType   Integer   0: none, 1: party, 2: raid, 3: pvp, 4: arena, >=5: none (official from "IsInInstance()") )

But maybe you have to add another value to confirm that it really is a dungeon...

Yea i used that website to define the 1(party) in Map.dbc but didnt work. When i copied another dungeon the copied dungeon  didnt work. Im assuming I have to add it to a different DBC file??

Just a idea of me: Maybe using a different tool instead of taliis will help. Maybe Taliis fucks up the dbc. Try MyDbcEditor.

Alright I'll give it a shot. thanks for replying lol been waiting quite a bit for a response. Taliis seems to work great for regular continent's but i think dungeons gets f*ed up.

Don´t wait fore someone. Look self again and again and have a look here every 6 houres :)
Many things in wow modding never had be done. So there is perhaps simple noone or onyl a less count of people that can help you. And such people are somedays 3 till 10 days offline because of real life.

All others ahve to do the same as you. Setup en environment and test it out. And fo this most people simple have no time. So try again self and perhaps you will get some answe next days.

Yea i tried. I been looking all over the internet. I been searching your guys' forums. I been playing around with setting for 5 days now. Everything points to what I've already fixed. this site is supposed to be "experts" so i come here seeking help and advice. I am really good at figuring things out for myself but when i get stumped i look for people that actually know how to fix problems. And in this case i am turning to people that say they know how to fix it, so I ask for help. If this "setup" is made for people to find answers for them selves, then maybe this site shouldnt have a forums page for helping people. I mean no disrespect. but I also don't like people jumping down my throat when all im doing is asking for help. If you guys don't know how to fix this particular problem, tell me and i will go somewhere, where people know how to fix it.

IF there is one that did this already and could fix it, he had answerd. I wow modding still many things never had be done .. so there simple is noone can tell you. I also sometimes try around weeks to get one single point done.
My maps for example still dont work in second layer. nd I started this 5 month ago :)

The only difference Noggit should do is the menu it inserts the map into. On the other hand, you may just edit it as a continent map and when you're done, change the flag for the server.

I like the way you think Schlumpf. Finally a solution that makes sence. Thanks.
